| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Batch #45. Aroma of caramel, cereal, nuts, herbs, resin. Pours dark brown, cloudy, head is a long lasting frothy tan foam. Palate has light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness, a light body, slick feel; carbonation is fizzy, some acidity makes it a litltle astringent. Goes well with duck. ElGaucho56 (393), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2007 750 ml, batch #68. Pours a dark muddy brown with ruby highlights, not too much in the way of a head until poured with greater verve, at which time about a 1/2 inch eggshell white fluff rose and quickly fell, leaving a thick coating. Smells quite wheaty, like a witbier, somewhat haylike, mild sherry fruitiness. On the palate, the fruit opens up to a sort of bitter dark grape, some candi sugar lightness, slightly doughy; very nice mouthfeel, rich and creamy, coating the tongue as you swallow. Definitely more bittering than is required for the style, a herbal which detracts from the sweetness. Some butterscotch lingers on the palate. Surprisingly warming for 7%. jb (1052), Rochester, New York, USA

Woo Hoo this was good (but not the reserve). Light muddy brown with orange highlights, thin head. Sugary aroma, raisins. Very syrupy palate, nutty, some hops to balance sweetness. Very very nice. Appearance: Pours a dark reddish-brown body with a small, tight off-white head.
Smell: Aroma of tart, ripe fruits, spices, and floral hops. Faint whiff of tobacco and cocoa, too.
Taste: Dark maltiness with notes of chocolate and toffee. All the while there’s a pervasive tart fruitiness. Hint of tobacco. Gentle floral hops. There’s a light spiciness near the end which lasts into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Soft carbonation.
Drinkability: A solid take on the style. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2007 This brown pour smells of malt, spices, brown sugar and fruit. It smelled much better then it tasted. I felt it was very thin and only really tasted like malt and bread. It does have a nice amount of carbonation and felt good as I finished a sip. Malty aroma with brown sugar, dark fruits and notes of red wine. Mouthfeel is creamy, nice carbonation and medium bodied. Flavor reveals a lot more fruit and floral character, as well as some chocolate and nuttiness. Pretty good. Ron (1028), Rochester, New York, USA
