The taste is malty but clean, with some dried fruit (maybe a little peach) and more fruit creeping in at the end, only to be washed away by a solid, but not particularly intense hop finish. I would love to try this after it’s had a chance to mature, because right now it’s a good, solid dubbel, but it’s just not distinctive enough to grab my attention. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2007 (Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, brownish with a beige head leaving some laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit and some yeast. Medium body, lightly sweetish roasted malt. Fruity - also some dried fruit notes and a whiff of yeast and diacetyl. Slightly earthy tang but not enough to spoil the pleasure. 180607 Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA

Caramel, toffee aroma with yeasty notes. Full bodied, malty, dark sugar, hints of molasses. Some spice. Smooth drinking, unrefined and not very complex. USFCycling (14), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 16, 2007 I thought this beer was rather simple in my opinion. thick white head on the pour. Quite malty, but not a whole lot of flavor goin on that impressed me. Finishes well and is an easy beer to drink, but it wasn’t my favorite in the allagash line. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2007 I thought this beer was quite good and quite complex. The flavors were a really nice blend of roastness and touches of sourness and cloviness. Quite distinctive...and recommended.
Appearance is a hazy red-brown with very good head formation. Aroma was very roasty, plus a touch of sourness that I really liked. Flavor was more of the same, plus some spiciness. Mouthfeel was smooth and good. Quite a good beer. bdigital (590), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2007 Batch 41. Pours what I can best describe as puddle-water, and I mean that in the most endearing sense possible. Creamy white, diminishing head. Very tart aroma to this along with some rock candy, caramel, and malt. Taste pretty much goes along identically with the aroma. Not bad, but won’t seek out again. probstk (1064), Nepean, Ontario, Canada
