Aroma of yeast, bread and sweet malts. Sightly sweet malty flavor with very light roasted malt and yeasty flavors. Thin palate. jason (1625), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2007 My least favorite Allagash beer I think. A nice ruddy color, appropriate to the style, and a big head with a pointed aroma. While the patented Allagash yeast strain is present in the initial taste, somehow this one comes across as a bit thin, even chalky in some sense. The sugars tend to have the right overtones of caramel and raisins and so forth, but this one doesn’t quite have enough presence for me - and certainly lacks the serious complexity I expect from this fine brewer. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2007 750 ml bottle. Nice mahogonay reddish color with a beautiful creamy head that lasted forever. Lots of nice lacing all the way up the glass. Aromas were dark fruit, raisin, caramel. Flavors were similar, but not as profound. Pretty nice lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 5, 2007 pours a cloudy dark apple cider color with a one finger off white head that disappears quickly. aroma is light yeast, grain, and bread with a little dark fruit. has a medium body with ok lacing and descent carbonation. flavor is light malt, yeast, and grain, with some bread and a touch of alcohol. the carbonation has a little bite and has a small dry hop aftertaste not bad but average. little thin but a pretty smooth dubbel i guess. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2007 "Just" another really nice beer from Allagash. I’ve come to think very highly of these guys and so far none of their beers dissapoint. The beer pours out a deep brown, slight reddish color with a medium off-white head. First aroma hits you is the malty sweetness. Under that is a fruity/berry aroma with cloves and a bit of spice. Mouthfeel is a little thin for a dubbel, but still it’s very nice. Flavors of the beer were a little "light", meaning they were quite as strong as I like, but they were still nice. Notes of raisins, dark table grapes, figs, and spices. Finishes smooth. rmussman (906), California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 1, 2007 A very nice abbey beer, which was too be expected from Allagash. Aroma was very malty and strong. Appearance was light brown with a cloudy texture. Mouthfeel was super smooth. Flavor was distinct and strong. A great abbey brew. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
