Toasted caramel brown sugar aroma with dark fruit yeast and a little alcohol. Toasted brown sugar with fruit and maple syrup with mild tang and medium spicy finishing bitterness. Medium body and decent mouthfeel. One of my least favorite styles. And there are better ones. But still decent enough. Maybe I imagine it, but I think this is probably better out of a 750. zapprentice (312), East Setauket, New York, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2009 [Bottle] Pours reddish-amber with a small, lingering off-white head. Aroma is apple, light peppery notes, a lot of yeast, and some malt. Taste is some malt again, some alcohol, and a lot of yeast...ok there is a lot of yeast. Possibly a little raisin, but I think I’m reaching even for that. A little thin, pretty good length finish. A fairly poor dubbel, and really, I hate rating beers like this. Totally one-dimensional, hardly anything going on, and although not offensive, certainly not that great. Can I get some beer with this yeast please?
