Mar 19, 2009 Bottle, courtesy SHIG. Turd water brown pour, with gray highlights and a very frothy head, and thick lacing. Spicy nose, dark fruits, cotton candy, slight caramel. Flavor is sharp fruit with dry malts, caramel and some cocoa. Smooth, full-bodied, but kinda one-dimensional.

Mar 18, 2009 Bottle: Poured a orange hazy brown with white head. Aroma is fruit with sweet malts. Taste is sweet fruit with a slight booze finish. Not an overwhelming dubbel in my book.

Pours murky dark brown with white head.
Aroma is fruity some licorice and roasted malts.
Taste is yeasty, dark fruits (cherry) malty and candi sugar and some other spices that add a nice fresh mouthfeel.

Mar 14, 2009 poured a dark amber, brown with a nicely sized white head. aroma of small belgian spices and oaky malt. Taste matches, well balanced.

Mar 10, 2009 Location: Had this one out of a bottle at Bourbon in Adam’s Morgan, it wasn’t the absolute best place to judge a beer (loud, dark, no glass)
Overall Impression:
I remember enjoying this one, a nice complex dubbel with some interesting flavors. I will have to regrade next time I drink it if they conditions are more suitable to rating.

Mar 8, 2009 Comes out of the tap an opaque light chocolaty brown with a fairly thick, pale tan head. Rich, smoky, malty aroma has a yeasty undertone, and invites a taste. Flavor is malty with hints of cinnamon, cloves, yeast and caramel - very toothsome. Texture is very smooth and leaves behind a nice tingle.

Mar 8, 2009 Poured from a 750ml, batch 71. Dark brown pour with a big tan head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, dark sugar, mollasses, some fruit. Flavor is dark fruit and belgian spices. Some chocolate, and plums. Nice thick mouthfeel with lingering finish. Pretty good dubbel.

Feb 27, 2009 Poured from a 750ml caged and corked bottle (Batch #68) and served in a tulip. This dubbel poured a dirty, caramel/copper brown with a short-lived head of tan foam that settled into a lasting ring. Decent lacing. The aroma included dark candi sugar, raisins, caramel, along with a faint note of chocolate. The flavor contained dark fruit skins, candi sugar, light chocolate, and also a bit of alcohol in the finish. Everything about the flavor seems to be muted. Just not as vibrant as I was hoping for. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a moderate amount of crisp carbonation. Definately not a bad representation of the style, but not my favorite.
