Commercial Description:
Allagash had the honor of hosting De Struise Brouwers Brewmaster Urbain Coutteau and his co-workers Carlo Grootaert, Phil Driessens and Peter Bruin along with the "Homebrew Chef" Sean Paxton of homebrewchef.com on August 29. The Brewers with our Brewmaster, Jason Perkins collaborated on a Belgium Blonde called Fedeltá which means Fidelity in Italian. De Struise had previously brewed a version of this beer at their farm brewery in Belgium. After collaborating strategically over e-mail, phone and in person on brew day, the five brewers were able to put all their hard work into a great brew. Fedeltá, 8.2% Blonde was brewed using a selection of imported Pilsner Malt, Domestic Pale Malt as well as 15% Wheat Malt. American Cascade and Amarillo Hops were also selected resulting in 35 IBU. Also added in the boil was Cane Sugar and Honey. Fedeltá was fermented with our house Belgian-style strain, producing a subtle ester profile. The result is a smooth beer with subtle flavors of spice, honey, and vanilla as well as citrus hop flower notes. Fedeltá will be available in limited markets, draft only in the fall.

Tap at blind tiger. Poured a cloudy golden amber with a thin head. Light nose with some Belgian yeast. Nice spicy and extremely drinkable. Honey and hop notes lead the front. Delicious sweet and malty finish with no hint of the 8.2 abv. Dangerously sessionable.

9oz draft For the Love of Hops 7/6/09 Had with FlssmrBrewAlum-Poured a hazy orangish golden with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, honey, and sweetness. Flavor was the same with some wheat and lemon coming through. A very well balanced light bodied beer that finished dry. Overall great tasting and was great to be able to try.

Hazy yellow orange with a bit of white head. Aroma is a bit faint, but sweet with wheaty spice notes. Taste is the same with peachy and citrus with phenolics accentuating dryness into the finish.

Tap at Capones, today, psyched to see an Allagash beer that I haven’t had before, especially on tap. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet, light. Taste is wow wow wow, supre tasty, light citrus, excellent vinous dry character.

9 oz draft courtesy of the TB Hop Juice release (Warrenville, IL). Pours a nice hazy bright orangish gold. Small white head that laces some. Aromas are sweet, belgian yeast, honey sweetness with a touch of vanilla. Initial is light, flavorful. Good belgian yeast, nothing overpowering. Honey, vanilla, a touch of lemon rind, some cereal malt character. Backend mellow, moves to a sturdy dryness in the finish. Very well balanced, subtle yet flavorful. Dances on the palate with belgian yeast, honey, and lemon. I think vanilla is almost a byproduct, just showing up from the smoothness. Light spice, very nice. Cheers!

A guest beer at For the Love of the Hops! 2009 festival at Two Brothers Brewery in Warrenville, IL. Golden color with a modest white head. Aroma overall is pretty light with some lemon/orange notes, light alcohol and a pils graininess. Flavor has an overall strong alcohol flavor, a touch of lemon, pils malt is there and a nice clove and yeasty flavors are hidden away in there as well. Good beer overall.

Draft at Rattle ’n Hum. Poured a slightly hazy light orange color. The head was white and left some lace behind. Attractive nose of clove, ginger, flower blossom, and vanilla. Medium bodied and semi sweet. The flavors followed the aromas somewhat. Yeasty bread dough, honey, subdued clove, and ginger came together nicely. Good stuff.
