Commercial Description:
Allagash had the honor of hosting De Struise Brouwers Brewmaster Urbain Coutteau and his co-workers Carlo Grootaert, Phil Driessens and Peter Bruin along with the "Homebrew Chef" Sean Paxton of homebrewchef.com on August 29. The Brewers with our Brewmaster, Jason Perkins collaborated on a Belgium Blonde called Fedeltá which means Fidelity in Italian. De Struise had previously brewed a version of this beer at their farm brewery in Belgium. After collaborating strategically over e-mail, phone and in person on brew day, the five brewers were able to put all their hard work into a great brew. Fedeltá, 8.2% Blonde was brewed using a selection of imported Pilsner Malt, Domestic Pale Malt as well as 15% Wheat Malt. American Cascade and Amarillo Hops were also selected resulting in 35 IBU. Also added in the boil was Cane Sugar and Honey. Fedeltá was fermented with our house Belgian-style strain, producing a subtle ester profile. The result is a smooth beer with subtle flavors of spice, honey, and vanilla as well as citrus hop flower notes. Fedeltá will be available in limited markets, draft only in the fall.

Draft at Capones. Pours a golden nectar color with a small white bubbly head. Lots of honey coming through in the aroma and flavor. The warmer this one got the more the honey sweetness melded with some nice bitter hoppy aromas and flavors. This was one great beer.

On draft at Capones. Pours a semi clear yellow gold with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, candied sugar and yeast. Taste is much like the aroma- fruity with candied sugar and yeast. Slight perfumy aftertaste.

On tap at Capone’s. Pours a cloudy gold with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, some clove and spices. Flavor is very wheaty with tons of spices and yeast. Definitely more of a witbier (similar to Fluxus too I think). Pretty chill and easy to drink. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

[Draft @ Capones] Poured a lightly hazy golden amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, toasted malts, grass, vanilla, toffee, and light spices. Taste of honey, vanilla, citrus, lemongrass, some pine, and moderate hoppiness in the finish.

Tap at Capone’s. Pours out a slightly cloudy moderate golden color with a moderate white head. Aroma is of sweet fruits, spice and a slight hop nose. Taste is well balanced, sweet fruits, some honey, grainy/bread notes, slight spice and a yeasty, dry finish. Once again a job well done by Allagash.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of yeast and grains. Poured gold/yellow/flaxen/orange in color with a large, creamy, off-white head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of yeast, pale malts, and grains. Light to medium body. Dry texture. Soft carbonation. Yeasty, lightly dry finish. Overall, very Saison-like.

Almost a tripel rather than a blond. Hints of bread and yeast, hints of honey and vanilla, with more American than Belgian notes in the hops. Cloudy, gold, small white head. Draft at Tria during Philadelphia Beer Week.
