Commercial Description:
Allagash Fluxus is so named because it is the first beer brewed in our new brewery. Fluxus marks the change and growth of Allagash Brewing Company, and our passage from the corner of our original building to a new, state of the art brewery. Brewed with Belgian Pilsner Malt and 25% Rye malt, the beer is full-bodied with a spicy, herbal taste. A floral note arises with the addition of Yarrow, which is a flowering plant that was historically used as an alternative to hops. The 10% abv beer is hopped with Warrior and Brewers Gold which impart a subtle bitterness. Finally Fluxus, like all our beers, undergoes a second fermentation, the methode champenoise, by which we naturally carbonate our beer in the bottle.

750ml bottle in trade with Beachbum25.......I think. Pours a mostly hazed glowing orange with a big, fluffy off white head. Nose had hints of citrus, melon, yeast and spice. Brew was medium in body with a slightly sweet finish. Another good one from Allagash.

On tap at City Beer Store, SF. Pours hazy golden/orange, with slight head. Aroma is mild fruit - esp. melon, apples. Flavor has bitterness, slightly mediciney yeast, faint tart fruit as well as hints of tropical fruit - starfruit and lychee. Finish is mild sourness and bitterness along with some deeper dusty flavors. Has an excellent full and complex mouthfeel.

tap. Pours with a yellow golden color. This one has flavors of ginger, yeast and some medicinal notes as well. The first sip is a bit strange but then it starts growing on you. Not sure what to make out of it, the one thing is for sure: it hides its alcohol real well and can sneak up on you.

On tap. Pours a hazy yellow with floaties. Nose is yeast, spice, and funk. I wasn’t sure I would like this one, but the flavor was quite nice, with yeast and pepper standing out. nice finish that lingured.

Bottle… Cloudy golden ale with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is herbal with lots of intermingling earthy spices, white and black pepper and pale grains. Full-bodied with a thick, oily mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Spicy and boozy with fruity sweetness; herbal and earthy bitterness; light tanginess. Hints at toffee and/or butterscotch. Lengthy, bittersweet, fairly hot finish. Kudos to scraff for shipping the bottle down from Baltimore!

(26oz bottle) Purchased at Bottleworks in Seattle for $13.99. Pours a seemingly slim white head that dissipates quickly. Nose is creamy, vanilla, yeast and mint. Flavour is smooth, mildly alcoholic with grape peel and spicy yeast.

Pours a dull slightly opaque orange color with a decent white head. Floral and citrus nose. The flavor is slightly sweet with some citrus. Medium bodied and slightly bitter. There is a slightly disorienting acidic and alcoholic flavor as well. That part is not great but could mellow out with age. The subtle back flavors and aspects are still worth it though.
