Commercial Description:
Allagash Fluxus is so named because it is the first beer brewed in our new brewery. Fluxus marks the change and growth of Allagash Brewing Company, and our passage from the corner of our original building to a new, state of the art brewery. Brewed with Belgian Pilsner Malt and 25% Rye malt, the beer is full-bodied with a spicy, herbal taste. A floral note arises with the addition of Yarrow, which is a flowering plant that was historically used as an alternative to hops. The 10% abv beer is hopped with Warrior and Brewers Gold which impart a subtle bitterness. Finally Fluxus, like all our beers, undergoes a second fermentation, the methode champenoise, by which we naturally carbonate our beer in the bottle.

Bottle shared by sliffy. Pours a hazy pale amber color with a sizeable white head. Aroma is yeast, spices, floral tones. Flavor is huge wallop of spice (yarrow), yeast, light malts, floral. Palate is medium, medium to highly carbonated, somewhat prickly on the tongue, finishes spicy and warming. Different, not my favorite, but drinkable.

Hazy orange, moderate to small head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is herbal spices, pale malts. Medium bodied, lightly sweet finish. Decent, but hard to justify the pricetag like most of their beers.

Bottle shared by sliffy. Amber color with a medium to thick head. The aroma was very spicey and yeasty as well. Overpowering spice. The taste follows and isn’t very enjoyable for me--just too much damn spice.

Bottle: Orangish caramel in color, fairly hazy, large frothy sand colored head, spotty lacing.   Herbal nose, slightly floral, even a bit of Braunschweiger seems apparent.   Not sure what to make of this one.   There is a slight alcohol presense.   Astringent floral flavors, herbal, slight alcohol.   Its like a fiery Saison, albeit moreso herbal oriented and also infused with more alcohol.   Kind if buscuity, some honey, more floral and herbal notes.   This is a weird one.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Perfumy on the exit, fiery, warming, slight alcohol.   Bright herbal aspects, virgining floral that needs to come out more.   One of the more bizarre beers from Allagash that I have had.   Different from most others.   Best say its like a Saison that is infused with super Herbal aspects, that and alcohol.   Makes my head spin, but not from joy.   Odd concoction, try at your own risk.

Bottle thanks to my secret santa: Pours a thick hazy gold with a white head. Aroma, yeasty, bready, some spices, rye, and floral notes. Flavor, spices, yeasty, thick and bready, some floral notes, the spice was a little heavy. Palate was almost syrupy.

Tap at Barcade. Deep orange-amber beer. This head. Aroma is very subtle. Light chewy earthy Belgian malts. Slightly toasty bready malts. Very little character in the aroma. Some dusty malts and a light herbal/fruity character. Sticky and chewy. It’s not bad, but it’s not great. A fairly non-descript offering from these guys.

Bottle, shared. Pours a hazy deep orange color with a small and quickly dissipating off-white head. The aroma is yeasty, with citrus, coriander, malt, and fruit notes dominating. The beer tastes like a classic tripel at first, with banana, citrus, and coriander, then it dissolves into slight malt and full-blown floral hops (guess that’s the yarrow). Finish is very dry. Another unique beer from this fantastic brewery, and one I would definitely have again.
