Head was white with good retention and lacing. Smelled of clove, light citrus, and flower blossom. There were also whiffs of peach, corn muffin, and alcohol. Dry, effervescent, and a little chalky. I tasted citrus, clove, and other spices. Warm alcohol seeped into the mucous membranes. There was some raw alcohol and mild bitterness at the end. Interesting beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 20, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Fresh herbs wisely impart their floral nature to this citrusy, dry and subtly bitter Belgian-style Strong Ale. I have come to expect nothing less than this high quality from Allagash.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy yellow.
-Carbonation is well calculated and serves the sagaciously dried out malt sweetness beautifully.
-The finishing hop bitterness harmoniously joins the yarrow use.
-This is not as sweet as many Allagash specials, which was appreciated.

Beer #29: Pours hazy yellow to orange with fully diminished white head. Lime to citrusy hops aroma. Flavour is light caramel malt nicely blended with a delicate citrusy hoppy flavour. Light yeasty touch into the finish followed by a nice lingering hops finish. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Thin white head of fine and dense bubbles. Light carbonation. Soft fruity aroma with some pineapple, ginger and other spices and a bit of straw. Color is a hazy golden orange. Light and fruity flavor with some more spices, a decent herbal bitterness and a some spruce late swallow. Strong and noticable alcohol presence and heat as it goes down. Medium bodied and lighter in malt character. I am sure this does not help the alcohol presence and makes it more noticable. Some bitter orange and mint lingering. A pretty damn good belgian and one that I am sure is going ot mess me up!
