Commercial Description:
Another year, another batch of Fluxus has been brewed to mark the change and growth of Allagash Brewing. With a new and different recipe, our 2008 batch is a double white beer brewed with spices and fresh grated ginger. A double white beer calls for twice the amount of malted and raw wheat, which casts an elegant cloudiness over this mango-colored beer. The aroma boasts of herbal and minty notes, as well as hints of clove and candied ginger. Fluxus offers a perfectly balanced flavor with a warm, clean finish and a lingering spiciness.

Serving: 750 ml. bottle. Appearance: Cloudy, light orange color with a frothy, white head. Aroma: Honey, candy sugar, light wheat, floral notes, and orange blossoms. Very nice. Flavor: Lots of sweetness (a bit to much in fact), dry medicinal notes, orange, wheat, and ginger. Somehow the flavor profile never quite comes together. Palate: High carbonation with a medium-light, sticky mouthfeel and a medium, almost medicinal finish. Overall: This one kind of falls apart on me. Good nose, but the flavors just never seem to come together in the right way. Not recommended.

Pours a hazy golden orange color with a thin foamy off-white head that quickly fades. Not much in the way of lacing. Spicy floral aroma with some light crisp fruit notes and citrus peel presence. Crsip golden fruit flavor with a touch of floral hops and subtle spiciness. Orange peel is prominent with other light crisp fruit, mostly apple and pear. Alcohol very well masked and well balanced making it very quaffable. Slightly sweet with a bitter hoppy dry finish.

Bottle... Poured golden with a white head. Floral, spiced and wheat aroma with a touch of honey. Wheat malts in the initial flavors with spiced and pepper. Light fruit and strong yeast notes which where great.

750 ml bottle from Hollingshead Deli that I got in July so it must be the 2008 and the label lists it at 8.6% ABV. Nose of sweet candi sugar, cloves, ginger, and light yeastiness. Lightly hazy yellow with a medium white head. Flavor is spicy and sweet; spices being the ginger and cloves. Pretty good but not great!

Bottle from Craft. Turbid orangy pour with 2-fingers of off-white head. Aroma was citric, funky, and tropical fruity, with prominent malt, hops, old yeast, and florals. Tasted citric, spicy, with floral and hop notes matched by fruity and peppery wet basement yeasty notes.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of peaches and ginger. The flavor is very sweet with notes of peaches conserved in sugar and malt, leading to a very fruity finish.
