Reddish clear copper body; frothy light tan head. Fruity cinnamon, apples, spice, caramel aroma. Fruit shows up in flavor too, and a lot more. Roasted caramel malt, light earthy tobacco hints, allspice, apple. Metallic finish that seems to disappear, or I get used to. Also starts a bit overly fizzy, but the flavor mutes it. Great quad.

Decent beer, but nothing special within the style. Pour was amber-reddish to brown with a thin head that disappeared quickly. The aroma was stringent, strong alcohol most present. The flavor was somewhat sharp with a bitterness to the sweet malt base. There were too many fresh/raw apples in the flavor. Mouthfeel was rather thin for the style.

From a 750ml. brown bottle with no bottled/freshness date, sampled at cellar temperature in a chalice. Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy apple cider amber with a foamy beige head that settled into a fine lacing, good smooth carbonation. Had a freshly sliced green apple and pear fruity nose with whiffs of sweet maltiness and alcohol at the edges. A crisp, textured and smooth medium bodied mouth feel, very good sipping drinkability. Fresh apple and pear with a caramelized malty taste, the yeast is dryish and in the forefront, a subtle spicy and earthy hops bitterness in middle, very balanced to keep the taste smooth, for 10% ABV, the alcohol warmth is pleasing and subdued, doesn’t overwhelm the other flavors in the palate, and a dry apple and sweet malty finish that lingers in the palate. A very pleasant and tasty Quadrupel from Allagash, if you like Belgian ales or exploring the world of Belgians for the first time, a must try.

Sampled with TannernTavernBoys. Pours tawny brown with a soapy white head. Aroma was huge on this thing - lots of dark fruits, grapes lending to a vineous quality, sweet rich malt, light earthy yeast and a spice combination that is very reminiscent of Allagash’s Grand Cru. Mouthfeel is very think and sticky with light frothy carbonation. Taste has lots of brown sugar and caramel. There are some earthy hops in here that become more prevalent as it warms. More caramel and yeast are apparent as it warms as well. The finish is sour with prevalent alcohol. After a bit of ages I assume the alcohol on the finish would smooth out nicely. This beer is very good now, but after a while it could easily get to excellent.

750ml Thanks to vyvvy for sharing this fine jem. Pours bright mahogony with a fairly significant soapy white head that really didn’t look like a belgian quad head whatsoever. aroma is wonderful-big dark fruits, red grapes, some dark spices, pie crust, brown sugar, with a slight vineous note (alcohol?). Wow, big sugary flavors with lots of red grape notes with a touch of plum. huge alcohol kick on the finish. This shows that this beer could and will age wonderfully! I love the palate here since it is not over-carbonated like alot of quads i have had. With a little more age, this one will truely be amazing!

Almost no head, vanished nearly instantly. Burgundy-brown-orange color? Aroma is very discrete: orange peel, spice (pepper). Flavor is pretty much the same, orange, pepper and strangely enough, it stops abruptly a few seconds after swallowing. On the sweet side but still offers decent bitterness. Fortunately the body was more interesting, even if it could be more round. I must admit my expectations were high, and I feel I did served it a little too cold. It did get better as beer warmed up but was nevertheless disappointing.

bottle from slob. Pours a rich earthy brown with a minimal tan head. Aroma is extremely fruity, a decent tough of alcohol, spice, and sugar...hardly any yeast. Flavor is pretty good...lots of fruit and alcohol tang...more fresh fruit than dried. Flavor is also sweet from sugar and malt. Mouthfeel is rich, but light.
