dark tan ruby tinted body that looks like a mix of tomato juice and iced tea with a thin grey head. aroma is sherry like with sweetness and a noticeable yeast tint. notes of bubblegum and fruits. this is appealling to someone like me who has a barleywine chugging exterior, but don’t let that fool you, i can also enjoy slowly sipping a complex brew too. upfront sweetness of candy apples and cotton candy with a dry finish. alcohol is noticeable but not dominant. very well balanced beer. some peppermint also comes out in this. lingering spicey licorice dryness that draws me back for more. doughy earth notes in this are fantastic, a wonderful beer

Deep cooper in color. Trace of coppery overtones and spices on the palate. Great lacing and fantastic head at the start. A good strong ale, but not overpowering with alcohol to the taste. A fun surprise and one of the best Belgian-American quads I’ve sampled.

This came in a 750ml bottle corked and caged. This poured out a mahogany color body with about a fourth inch off white head. No lacing was left as this was consumed. Aroma is full of a malty sweetness with a strong dark fruit presence. Taste is sweet and spicy with a strong fruitiness. There are traces of the alcohol present as well and a spicy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is almost full with a creamy texture. Drinkability is good as well, I would definitely have this again. Give this one try if you come across it.

orange copper color, clear and bright. thin/sparce foamy tan head, goes very quickly. aroma is raisin juice, rum soaked banana, heavy malt. lively carbonation, medium mouhtfeel. deep malty start, juicy and whiskey soaked raisin. slight hop bitterness at the finish with some whiskey warmth. a little salty and dry too. by the time it’s room temperature, the far away caramel flavor shows up.

Poured a hazy dark amber color with a thin off white head. Aroma is fruity with brown sugar, bananas, and alcohol. Sweet flavor of caramel and brown sugar. Alcohol shows itself. Finish is peppery and bitter. Nice warming sensation.

Spicey, malty aroma. Very nice cloudy cooper color with a dense, slightly off-white head. The flavor has a hint of orange, and perhaps some candy sugar. It starts sweet and mellows as passes through the mouth, leaving a slightly bitter aftertaste. The mouthfeel is somewhat sticky. I should have shared this...

Mild caramel . dark fruit , pinapple aroma. Dark tawny appearance with light beige head. Flavors of sweet malt , tangerine apple pears bananas and spicy yeast. Alcohol is well hidden. Mild fruity finish .Very smooth considering its ABV.

i tossed aside allagash’s brassy muzzle and teased the cork upward-- just a little -- and then let the pent-up carbonation do the rest. by itself it hefted the confining over-burden smoothly out of the bottle-- as effortlessly as arnold in his better days benching 300-- and then boomed like a starting gun. i directed the ale to a comfortable seat inside a seasoned snifter and waited as it frisked and foamed about-- frantically scouring the edges and seemingly seeking a means of escape. it soon calmed and settled placidly into a lantern glow of ruby port and ox blood red. the head was a natural tan of spun wool, thick as a good pair of socks, but with some time and probing, i discovered i’d worn a couple holes in the fine woolen fibres. apple peels-- loads of apples, some brown and some sour green, that’s what it smells like-- and the smell is fine. it has pie spices, cane sugar, a shot of ouzo, and it’s pregnant with bulging, yeasty bread dough. carbonation cools quickly and becomes a soft conveyor of full-bodied flavors: cranberry bitterness and sweet port notably. with a note of milk chocolate it has the precursors of silkiness, yet it remains taut, sinuous, and a little bumpy-- that is, some sharp edges may be a bit jarring for some tastes, but if you’ve got good shocks, it’ll take you deep into a lofty and pristine backcountry where the views are breathtaking. mucho thanks to my sister kerry-- a lady as refined as any trappist quadruppel-- and i don’t say THAT about just any ol’ gal.
