Lots of grape in both the aroma and the taste, as well as some light citrus (orange, maybe?), banana, and cinnamon. Not a great example of the style but more drinkable than some other, possibly better examples, of the style. Hopefully that makes sense. HopBackDoc (395), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2007 Batch 14. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with off-white head. Aroam of malts, dried fruit and yeast. Taste was fruit, mild spices, lightly sweet maltiness. Mellow and medium bodied beer. Quite enjoyable. cewldre (268), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2007 Bottle: Pours rusty golden color (can gold rust? oh well) with a small white head. I smell a bit of a peach, or some fruit similar. The taste is a bit banana in flavor, but only a little. I also taste a hint of some other fruit, maybe a bit of peach an raisin. This is smooth, but isn’t really strong in the taste category. ¾ (5006), Oregon, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this beer before. Found a case of 12oz bottles for only $20 at the local store, bottled in 2006. Pours a really attractive dark peach, almost rusty brown color. Sticky sweet nose of apricots, cashews, orange marmalade and honey, with the Allagash yeast in there to a moderate level, so it has a nice mild spicyness in the nose. Sticky and frothy, more of that orange marmalade noticed in the flavor, along with a light peppery toast and biscuit flavor. Overall a solid beer, and since it’s bottle conditioned I don’t mind buying a year-old case at a huge discount. VikingHammer (363), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2007 Very nice sweet smell. The flavor was nothing though. But I am not saying it was bad. In fact, it is one of the better beers I have ever had. Great beer! LinusStick (1852), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2007 My first Allagash. This is a great Belgian Strong. If I didn’t know better I would think it was an import. The aroma was a little weak but was fruity. Pour was a bubbly hazy red with no head. The taste was a nice balance of fruits and spice. The malt shows it’s head as well but is gone after the swallow. Nice. millysdaddy (67), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 7, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy, golden amber with a very small off-white head. The aroma is very fruity - berries and pear - with a hint of vanilla and spice. The sweet maltiness comes through the strongest in the flavor but it’s not at all too sweet. Very well balanced and easy to drink. I like it a lot.
