Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

750 mL bottle, batch #8. Pours clear and clean copper with a tall fizzy and frothy "loud" head that stays mostly throughout with lined lacing. Cellared oak and yeast (dust) start with sweet ligthly roasted caramel malts following and wheat, fruit (banana, grape) and spice notes. Sweet medium acidic caramel malt flavor with yeast and fruits to finish. Medium bodied and fizzy palate that ends somewhat dry, very lively carbonation.

12 oz bottle. This is the reason i dont like allagash’s 12 oz line-no batch number! I have no idea how old this beer is, but however old it is, it tasted wonderful. this beer poured bright orange with a small soapy white head. light sourness, big citric (lemon, tangerine) and some nice hops for a belgian beer. I like the american twist to this style here. nice ctirc flavors with some lingering light sourness. The only thing here is that the beer isnt overly complex, but a very delicate one for shure. The body is somewhat on the thin side, but was not legit to give a 2 score. Nice Belgian ale here.

Poured a hazy amber orange color with a solid finger of head. The nose was of orange peel and lemon zest with solid floral hops. Malts are mellow in the background. The taste started malty followed closely by spicey, citrus notes. Next alcohol warms and is imidiatly overcome by strong spicy hops. The finish was toasty and flavorful with a hint of fig. Nicely balanced and complex. Very delicious. Not as boozy as some Cru’s which makes it a pleasant session ale.

Pours a very hazy dark peach color with a small amount of fizzy white head and lots of carbonation bubbles on the sides. Aroma is very potent, fruity, light caramel, grapes, and light spices. Really smells like some type of champagne fruit drink. Flavor is rather sour appley, grapish, and just a dry tart finish. Overall, this was one of those beers that at first I didn’t find too great, but the more of it I drank, the more fascinated by it I became. At the end of the bottle I really really wished i had another.

Babblebelt tasting @ Logans- Batch 2- Pours a murky brown copper color, nice sized off white head. Aroma is musty, grape juice, caramel. Flavor is sweet, and malty, balanced well with dark malts and hops.

Bottle, batch #7. Pours a fairly clear orange-amber color. Big, dense head forms initially and fades down to a smallish head that last for quite some time. Fantastic lacing is left behind. Aroma is pleasantly floral and fruity, quite soft but noticeable. Medium bodied, smooth and almost creamy with pleasant medium carbonation level. Flavor runs sweetish without being annoying. Floral and fruity, I don’t get the smoke that is advertised. Damn nice beer.
