Commercial Description:
Allagash Grand Cru is deep golden in color, and has a firm yet refined malty palate. Taste and aroma have suggestions of smoke and licorice, with subtle hints of fruit and spice. An excellent beer to enjoy during the cooler seasons.

Bottle Batch #6: Pours a giant foamy white head that never disppears. Golden amber, a lot of visable carbonation. Aroma give me a dry impression, but the flavor doesn’t deliver much dryness. It’s fairly tasty, though it feels like an American imitation. The flavor is not as rich as I’d like it to be. But not a bad brew at all. Certainly worth drinking once.

750ml batch #10 Hazy amber pour with a huge fluffy creamy head, and lacing everywhere. Sweet malty aromas. The aroma is not quite as assertive or pleasant as the dubbel. The taste is not so dry, still not sweet. Malty, yeasty, spicy, and some fruit including banana. Starts out a little soapy but that diminishes quickly. Fairly full body and smooth. Light bitter finish. Gets better deeper in the bottle. Not the same league as the tripel but an excellent ale nonetheless.

750ml bottle(batch #10). After wrestling for a few minutes with the cork, the bottle then exploded on my like champange...a first mind u. Poured into tulip glass. Dark copper colour with a slightly orange head. First sip was somemwhat soapy, which then eased into a a dryer representation of some fruits. Apple, clove followed by a hoppy aftertaste. A little caramel in there along with some earthy tones. Aroma had a cherry-wheat smell. Second pour was more full-filling and less soapy.

Very dark cloudy copper coloring. An active, but thin white head. Aroma is bready with peaches and cherries. Hints of tobacco and clove. Slightly sweet. The taste is a dry apple and clove. Hints of grass and some earthy hops sneak in. This is a nice brew that will please those that do not like their Belgian Ales sweet.

Draft. Spicy aromas: ginger, coriander, cloves, and ripe fruit dominate the flavors of this beer. Aromas are lighter on this golden beaut. Yeast and the esters stand out. There is a richer background to the whole play here, too, with a lightly roasted, slightly nutty base to the beer. Full in the mouth and smooth on finish. Excellent American brew.

pours a hazy orange with a thick, well-retained head that clings well. refined spiciness to the nose, wonderfully absent any harsh medicinal qualities. also pleasant malty notes. flavor extremely interesting, with a light crisp malt charecter, some almost citrusy fruitiness, a light backing hop bitterness/flavor, and those spices. really comes together. very refreshing on the palate, too. excellent x-mas beer. batch #8

Cloudy amber color with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, yeast and spices. Flavor of caramel, alcohol, yeast and spices. Light to medium body, confortable, creamy texture, soft carbonation.
