kmweaver (2121), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA May 15, 2007 Updated: May 19, 2007 Tap, Max’s American Craft Beer Fest. Pours a cloudy golden color; white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Tart, sour cherries and lemony citrus in the aroma; dense and vaguely reminiscent of a Flemish sour. Lively, almost fizzy carbonation. Dense, warm alcoholic mouthfeel: chewy cherries and tart lemons; yeast and bread following, especially near the finish. Lengthy, chewy, warm alcohol and tart fruit finish. 8.4.8.4.16=4
Rerated at Max’s, after my allergies cleared up a bit. Dense, tart cherries and citrus in the aroma; hint of vanilla. Still slightly overcarbonated, but that’s really the only central drawback for me: great density of cherries, toasty vanilla; hints of butter and butterscotch.

Pretty disappointing...I expected something very rustic and sour along the lines of something from Vinnie’s workshop, but there just wasn’t much to it. I kept going back for more, thinking I was missing something, but alas, I couldn’t find much to inspire. Sledge Jr (2720), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Dec 27, 2007 Sampled at GABF 2007. Cloudy dark yellow in color with athick poofy white head. Fruity estery bubble gum aroma. Apple cider and pineapples in the flavor. Perhaps a splash of vanilla as well. Tartness appears late in the mouth for a drying oaky finish. awaisanen (1160), Irvine, California, USA Dec 10, 2007 GABF 2007. Pours a cloudy, burnished gold color with a thick head of foamy white. Light fruity pear and muscat grape esters mingle pleasantly with some musty funk. Notes of barnyard and fermented cabbage, which combines with the acidity to form an interesting sauerkraut nose. Medium-full bodied mouthfeel with a soft, melting carbonation. Lots of pale fruits up front on the palate, with flavors of pear, golden delicious apple, and even a touch of pineapple. Funky barnyard grows in the finish, which is loaded with dry oak characters. fordest (1778), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Dec 6, 2007 GABF. Tart aromas. More tart in the aroma than the flavor. The flavor was a bit sweeter. Hints of wood too. Not bad. toncatcher (205), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA Oct 23, 2007 Sampled at GABF. Aroma of sweet and tart fruit, cherries and berrries. Flavors of some tartness, like a chardonney aged in oak.
