| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 23, 2009 Nose is of oak, red wine, brett, apples, with additional earthy, pear, toast, grape and berries in the flavor. Mouthfeel is medium, with a very tannic and slight acidic and tart aspect. A very tannic, plum like character is added to an otherwise light and refreshing ale by the wine barrels. Very unique ale. Pours with a hazy golden orange body with a fluffy white head that fades but leaves good lacing. Aroma is strong of brett with hints of oak barrel and red wine, tartness, earthiness and a bit of spiciness and alcohol. Taste is much lighter on the brett than the aroma. A bit of earthiness and sweetness. Oak, fruit and diacetyl. Fizzy and dry, well made but quite expensive beer. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA

Aroma is of yeast, pineapples, and some citrus.
Flavor has a sweet beginning with a bitter, sour ending. Tastes very yeasty with lots of citrus.
Medium mouthfeel with light carbonation.
Not a bad beer, but not my style! SuperWhite92 (22), , Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Pours just shy of an amber color with a brilliant white head on top. Smells strongly of brett funk with a hint of oak barrel as well. Tastes slightly sour and tart, full of tannins. Somewhat fruity, and with a crisp belgian pale backbone holding it all together. Really an amazing beer. Mouthfeel matches the smell and drinkability is phenomenal. My favorite allagash brew so far. I wish this were more available to me. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 On tap at Tria. Pours a cloudy orange with a thick white head. Aroma of sweettarts with a luscious sourness. Flavor of nice sour notes, sweettart candies, some apple. Rather wine-like with a beer-like palate--a nice smooth palate and superb mouthfeel. This is an awesome sour ale. Wow, I need to try the bottled version of this too.

This is my favorite Allagash (alongside the HM). The sour and malt work so well togather and it’s a beautiful orangish/caramel color. The aroma suggests an open ferment but could use a touch more oomph. Still, it’s amazing. emerica56 (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 9, 2009 The color is a cloudy orange amber with no head or streaks left on the glass. The aroma is strong and full of malt mixed with the right amount of hops. There is also a nice sour and bready note in the aroma. The flavor is full sour yeast with a mix of lemon citrus and caramel malt. The citrus sticks to your palate like gum on a shoe. Overall it was a great brew and has some interesting flavors mixed with carbonation and a well balance of malt and hops. Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Pours a headless translucent orange colour with. The nose is packed with brett yeast, barnyard funk, tropical fruits and that’s it. The flavour is vanilla, wood, brett yeast, tropical fruits, white wine and grassy, earthy hops. It is extremely sweet, but the brett yeast prevents it from being cloying. The palate is nearly flat, with a long, sweet berry finish and well hidden booze. Judging by other ratings, I think I got a flat bottle. I’ll have to fork out 20 dollars for another bottle.
