Aroma is very geueze like up front. Tons of apple and white/muscat grapes. Nice tart/sour combo going on. Flavor on par up front, but starts to dry out from tons of woodiness. as it warms the woodiness becomes more mellow or my palate has adjusted. Either way still a tasty brew. brentfeesh (1038), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2008 750 ml bottle I think. 2006 vintage. First brew of 2008! Amber pour with tons of champagne like carbonation and a large head. Vinous aroma with noticeable oak and sour fruit. Interesting flavor. Kind of at the cross roads of wine and beer. Fruit is there in the form of grapes and possibly apple. Sour is there but also subdued by oak and alcohol. Just a touch of funk. All this comes together in fashion that is not immediately enjoyable but rather an experience that grows on you. By the end of this bottle I was very happy with the whole thing and would have it again. Wet mouth feel overall. rauchbier (3000), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Tap at Blind Tiger. Pale orange, cloudy appearance. Thick white head. Very light spicy aroma, lots of wheaty aroma and a yeasty sweetness. Cardamom and lots of fruity character. A bit of citrus, lemon and light coriander and lemongrass. Low bitterness, but with a Belgian feel with a hint of oak and vanilla in the finish. golubj (1287), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Draft at the Blind Tiger. Dark orange pour. Aroma is mainly oaky and malty, with some spices. The flavor is composed of significantly strong malt, caramel, sweet dark fruit, oak, and with a slightly tart finish like red wine. Good, but not exactly what I expected. Nose is sour then yeasty honey, dried cherry, apricot and spices. Lovely. Smooth with a tang, lightly sparkling. Taste is an unusual beer-wine hybrid. Funky peach and lemon peel with subdued toffee. Oaky drying. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Tap at Blind Tiger: Hazy copper pour with an off white head. Musty yeast aroma. Some earthy/farmhouse hints as well, with leathery subtleties. The flavor has a mild brett presence, notable lemon undertone (not citrusy lemon, more rind character) Has a mildly candyish malt back and a slightly oakey finish. Well made, but not as complex as I had hoped for. The brett hasn’t kicked up yet.
