From jjpm74 via trade. The pour was mostly brown with some turbidity to it along with some lighter copper highlights. A nice two-finger tall head popped up that was off-white in color and provided a bit of lacing. The aroma was lots of malt, some banana, coconut and bourbon. Weird but I was reminded of Malibu’s coconut rum at one point. The flavor was sweet malt, some banana and woody alcohol coming through. The mouthfeel wasn’t all that full but it was interesting.

75cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa). Pours a dark red brown with an off-white thick, frothy head. Aroma is of aged oak, slightly charred wood, hints of apple and faint sweetness. Flavor is a strong, earthy character, oakiness, hints of coffee and malt. Slightly smoky finish.

[1233-20080328] 750mL bottle. Toasted malt roast aroma has a bit of stale sweet wood notes. Slightly hazy, amber orange body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Toasted malt flavour has a bit of boozy fruity yeast and barrelly wood bark. Medium-full body. Interesting transition of the fruitiness to the roasted characteristics.

25.4 oz bottle, May 2006. Clear woody orange with an off-white head. Nose is dough, raisin and dates. Medium light with fizzy carb. Taste is caramel, raisin and oak. Alcohol creeps in to finish. Well made but nothing really stands out.

Deep amber/copper in colour, lingering off-white coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is quite sweet, lots of apples and plums, some light alcohol, peppermint, very wine like. The flavour is lightly sweet, a bit thin throughout, some red wine, plums. Lightly sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, mild carbonation. Finishes with some light caramel, a little thin, sweet.

This was surprisingly thin, highly disappointing considering the price of the bottle.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with kmweaver, thanks Ken.
Opened on December 24, 2007.
Bottle December 2006, bottle #518.

750ML bottle from Total Wine. I think I’ve had this before, but never rated it until this very moment. Pours an amber-hued, murky brown with a tan rim of head. Tasty aromas of plum and other dark fruits, oak wood, and subtle yeast. Very estery and subtle as opposed to the nose experience. Caramel, bubblegum, more plum, a hint of bourbon, and slight astringent alcohol in the aftertaste. Sweet and malty. This beer tastes better with each sip as the fruity overtones develop. Medium bodied and full carbonation. The lively carbonation is almost a drawback for the taste. This tastes like a Scotch Ale/Abbey Tripel combination. Definitely a good beer, but a little on the costly side and not very memorable.
