Commercial Description:
Allagash Speciale Reserve is a refreshing, light-copper colored beer brewed in the tradition of the Belgian ales of Brabant. We brew it in limited quantities each spring, and its distinctive toasted malt flavor, and herbal and fruit bouquet make it a perfect beer for a warm summer day. Suggested Food Pairings: Enjoy Allagash Speciale Reserve on its own, or with a light appetizer. Also try pairing it with shellfish, such as the traditional Belgian dish, Moules-frites . Serving/Pouring Suggestions: Allagash Speciale Reserve is re-fermented in the bottle in the traditional Methode Champenoise, and therefore contains a natural yeast sediment. Allow the bottle to rest upright for a few minutes prior to serving, then carefully decant the beer off the yeast. Style: Brabant Style Ale (Belgian Pale) Available In: 750 ml Bottle - Seasonal Alcohol Content: 5% ABV Original Gravity: 1047 Recommended Serving Temperature: 45-60 degrees F Recommended Cellaring Temperature: 55 degrees F (Not recommended for long periods of cellaring)

Thanks to civforprez for sharing this one. Called Speciale from batch 10. Poured a cloudy gold with a little red in it. There was a large creamy head on my pour. The aroma was menthol, honey, flowers, grass and a some peaches. The taste is toast, fish, salt and banana. This has a spicy and dry finish. A decent overall beer.

A tasty summer beer. Spicey like a belgain.... sweet with cloves. A good easy to drink chillin beer. Drank this one while watching incredible 4th of July fireworks. Not a tip top of the line, but still darn tasty.

Clean, crisp, full bodied. This is a very good Belgian Ale. Called Summer Ale and on a hot day it can be a great thrist quencher. Allagash beers are worth yout time and taste buds.

Bottle. Pours dark golden with a big white head and great lacing. Aroma of malt, citrus, candi sugar, chardonnay, peat, and corn flakes. Tastes dry, fruity, with citrus, hops, chardonnay, and honey at the finish. Super complex. My glass looked like it was full of floaties, until I realized that it was full of stationary carbonation bubbles. The effect was amazing!

Bottle. Foggy yellow with thin white head. Looks a bit like a hefe. Aroma is a bit like a hefe too. It’s lightly yeasty with some citrus. Very nice for a summer ale. Taste is nicely malty but also very refreshing with hint of lemon. Excellent summer ale and very easy to drink.

750ml corked bottle. Definite Belgian character, really soft Belgian yeast, apple and lemons. Really soft mouthfeel, felt empty at times, but easy to drink.
