Commercial Description:
Allagash Speciale Reserve is a refreshing, light-copper colored beer brewed in the tradition of the Belgian ales of Brabant. We brew it in limited quantities each spring, and its distinctive toasted malt flavor, and herbal and fruit bouquet make it a perfect beer for a warm summer day. Suggested Food Pairings: Enjoy Allagash Speciale Reserve on its own, or with a light appetizer. Also try pairing it with shellfish, such as the traditional Belgian dish, Moules-frites . Serving/Pouring Suggestions: Allagash Speciale Reserve is re-fermented in the bottle in the traditional Methode Champenoise, and therefore contains a natural yeast sediment. Allow the bottle to rest upright for a few minutes prior to serving, then carefully decant the beer off the yeast. Style: Brabant Style Ale (Belgian Pale) Available In: 750 ml Bottle - Seasonal Alcohol Content: 5% ABV Original Gravity: 1047 Recommended Serving Temperature: 45-60 degrees F Recommended Cellaring Temperature: 55 degrees F (Not recommended for long periods of cellaring)

pours light brown in color. this was from a 12 oz bottle, not the big 750. taste is good, has the similar taste of all allagash brews (their hops or malts or something). this is a good beer, very refreshing and easy to drink. aroma is sweet and malty. taste is slightly hopped with a nice thirst quenching aftertaste. this is a good belgian ale.

750mL Bottle, batch #7 Special Reserve, 05.16.04 Pours a beerish looking amber with a fair, fading head and moderate lacing. Aromas are lightly fruity, fresh grain, malt, sweetish, some uncrushed corriander seed. Flavor is mostly light and malty, some citrus. Good body for a quaffer, a bit sour in the end. Not bad, but not memorable.

An interesting spicy belgian style pale. Pours a nice golden coppery color, with a big white puffy head, and some really nice lacing. The spiciness is very present like a trippel. This could be a really nice session belgian.

750 ml labeled "Speciale Reserve". Poured the light amber of a pale ale with an average head. Aroma was faint but quite varied and nice. Estery and "happy" all the way through. The flavor was light a low-alcohol trippel, with similar spice, but restrained in quantity. This makes for a great "middle" beer, between some heaver styles. The flavor comes through, but leaves the mouth ready for some onslaught.

Batch 1 (750ml): Coppery hue with good foamy white head and good lacing. The aroma hints of dusty yeast esters, light corriander and cardamom, some apple, bicuity malts, and floral hops. The taste starts with sweet malts and subdued fruits, a nice dose of yeast nature is found throughout with a spicy finish. It's like Belgian Ale Light, very balanced! The mouthfeel is lively and quite refreshing, easy going on the palate. This is among the most quaffable Belgian style Ales I have encountered and when considered it a "Summer Ale", it's is darn good. (Note: Works well with spicy foods, the lightness cleans the palate and the mild spices in the beer mesh with the food tastes.)

Smells of faint peaches, spice and yeast. Nice orange color and thin top head. Flavor is a nice spicy sweetness, matching a rather decent mouthfeel: a mostly smooth feel with good finish of crispness and spice.

Golden body with abundant carbonation and thick, frothy white head that continued to build for about 10 minutes. Aroma of citrus, phenols, bubble gum, and bread. Wheaty, orange citrus, and phenolic flavor with some fruit peel and hop bitterness.

- clear copper/orange color, short white head that quickly dissipates, fruity aroma, peaches, vanilla, light spiciness and hops; flavor is average, fruity, spicy, decent hop bite, vanilla, light yeastiness and toastiness, a bit dry, bland for a Belgian style ale, but thirst quenching
