Standard Belgian Wheat aromas of citrus, yeast, spice and malt. Flavor followed the aroma very closely with the addition of some tangy fruit. Mouthfeel was bright with carbonation and finish was crisp and minerally. Overall, this is really just an average Belgian Wheat style Ale with little to distinguish it from the herd. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 4, 2005 bottle under special reserve label batch #9. poured murky orange brown with a fat fluffed head. aroma is yeast, raisins, dusty cobwebs, and some citrus and a noticeable cheese aroma. taste is gritty oak, and yeast with some sweetness that is a bit wheaty. bitter in the finish that leaves my tongue dry. some caramel comes out as this warms. the overall taste is disappointing. this seems watered down. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2005 Brownish-orange with a large, initially bubbly head, which settles in a light covering cream. Freshly cut tangerines and lemon meringue pie in the nose. Soft and supple Belgian yeast which invokes a dry and funky, saison-like character and complements the array of fruits quite well. Pretty delicious if you ask me, althought the aroma is a bit light and the flavor is a bit sweet. socoguzzler (11), fort collins, Colorado, USA

I thought it was a tasty and delightful beer. The taste of wet cardboard was a bit over-done but the yeasty finish washed my palate of the taste. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2005 Rating Allagash Speciale Reserve. 750 ml bottle pours with a big, white head that turns to just a thin sheen in a matter of moments. Aromas of citrus hops and spices. Taste is light but sweet for a summer beer. Flavor has some biscuit but also an off lemon flavor. Just a bit too sweet and sticky. swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2005 Poured a cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma is very strong citrus along with a faint olive. Hidden below the citrus there is a little pepper. The flavor is bold and crisp with a strong hint of citrus. A very easy drinking beer that puts to mind summers on a lake. A very light beer with no aftertaste. ruggedman (626), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2005 Probably my least favorite offering from Allagash. This beer is light and airy, but has very little hop presence. Slightly fruity, slightly malty but a bit too watery for my taste. Still a good summer beer, but not up to the rest of Allagash’s lineup. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2005 Speciale Batch #10. whatever that means. Pours copper with about an inch of head. Yeasty smell, no hops. Malt and yeast dominates but there’s not that much flavor. Definitely just a weak version of a real belgian ale. i don’t really like the real belgian ales so this was less than spectacular.
