Commercial Description:
Allagash Brewing Company would like to introduce its Tenth Anniversary Ale, a special 10% ABV beer that celebrates 10 years of brewing artisinal Belgian Style ales. A unique interpretation of our flagship Allagash White, Tenth Anniversary is a blend of two different whites: a sweeter batch (brewed in February, 2005) and a drier batch (brewed in March, 2005). By blending the two batches, an additional complexity is imparted. Further complexity, most notably expressed by the delicate vanilla notes, was gained by aging some of the beer in new oak barrels.

Courtesy of Pailhead. Have since received another from BuckNaked. Pours ligth copper with film for head. Aroma is full of citrus fruit, (lemon/orange). Some grassy hops and spices, coriander maybe? Flavor is very sweet. Residuel candy suger and spices, sort of reminds me of horny devil, in a way. Slight alcohol burn in the finish. Sort of one-dimensional, but enjoyed it very muh.

bottle from the small grocery around the corner...for $15, this better be amazing. cork is popped, and immediately the bottle starts spewing suds. maybe this one was a bit overcarbonated from the blending? pours a cloudy light amber, with (as the carbonation would indicate) a big white head that stays around for a while, then laces down the glass. aroma is spices and lots of fruity malts. full body. flavor is very malty, apples, with not quite enough spice to make the finish balanced: this is decidedly sweet in the finish. hides the alcohol quite well, but aside from that, I feel like a "strong wit" (if that’s what we’re calling this) can definitely be done better. I didn’t get much/any of the "vanilla notes" the description claims...maybe they re-used barrels from making oddessy? Overall, it’s a decent beer, but no way I’d pay $15 for another bottle.

Pours a hazy, warm yellow with a white head. Very sweet with aromas of spices, yeast, nuts and pepper. Feels quite fizzy in the mouth. Sticky. A bit more like a Belgian wheat or maybe a trippel.
