Hazy gold with a nice fluffy white head. Woody oak is apparent in the nose, spicy sweet, fruity, coriander - lots going on here! Flavor is slightly sweet, spicy. The star is the palate - soft, muted.. bubbly but not grating. Like "soft bubbles", if that even makes sense. A lovely beer! Do these guys make a bad one? BTW, how is this a BSA? Whatever, I likee! sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Rating #800. Pourd a hazy golden with a small fizzy white head. Aroma of grapes, vanilla, wood, cinnamon, and dry peppery alcohol. Flavor starts out very dry with notes of cinnamon stick, alcohol, a touch of vanilla, some grapes. Very similar to a triple, but more intense... much like if a quadrupel were made more akin to a tripel. The alcohol factor is dueling with the refreshment factor instead of helping it, which is probably my biggest problem with the beer. Otherwise very well-crafted. Allagash proves again that it refuses to get sloppy with its bigger beers. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Whoa, I was surprised to find this could still be bought, so I asked Bert who quickly hooked me up. Pours out orange colored with a thick white head that disentigrates in about .2 seconds. Nose is spicy, sweet, fruity, bubblegum, corriander, spicy, and slightly hoppy. Taste is sweet and spicy, and refreshing. Pretty good at a very cool temperature. I drank this one a little too slow and by the end it almost needed to go back into the fridge. Nice beer though, one Ive wanted to try for quite some time. mkgrenwel (420), Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Gusher. Huge white head. Arome of corriander, peach, ginger and nutmeg. Flavor is alcohol, peach amd spices. Sweet bretty yeast flavor, but with dryness. (Not sure what I meant with that last note, but it’s what I wrote down). Overall, a pretty good belgian ale. Alcohol is a little strong, but otherwise it’s not bad. PhillyBeer2112 (2089), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 21, 2006 What a nose! Bubblegum, coriander and other spices, maybe a cinnamon note, oak, and maybe some sort of pine resin. Pale cloudy yellow, with a fizzy quick head. Light fruit and bread up front, becoming slightly tangy, with a spicy middle. The finish seemed just a touch metallic, which is hard to explain or account for. Soft palate, very carbonated but yet not abrasive. Whew, I drank half the bottle rapidly in an attempt to explore the complecxity of this thing, and now I gotta slow down with the rest of this thing! Fine, unique, and complex.
