The flavor was also subtle, leaving something to be desired. The finish is slightly acidic with a light smoky flavor lingering towards the end and a slightly sticky mouth feel. I can’t say that I really enjoyed this beer all that much but it did do a good job of masking the 9.0% ABV. PolishHammer (64), , Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 10, 2009 Citrus, tangerine, floral, honey and a fair amount of alcohol on the nose. Light orange, to dark yellow appearance, with a thin, half inch, quickly dissapating white head. Flavor follows the aroma well, but the alcohol is noticeable. Mouth feel is smooth, with small tight bubbles. Overally, a nice tripel to sip on, but the alcohol flavor is a bit overpowering. Should be better hidden in a tripel. sebletitje (1914), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours cloudy orange.
Aroma is fruity, sugary yeasty.
Taste, nice orange/tangerine like fruits, sweet sugar, malty, light hops and esters.
Very nice mouthfeel, plenty of alcohol throughout. SamGamgee (1436), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Draught at the Big Hunt. Hazy gold with a medium sized head. I’m annoyed with the little 25cl Allagash stemware that they serve their stronger beers in. So narrow, and so little head space. Sweet honey, bread, yeast, and orange aroma. Yeasty, spicy flavor with fruity pear notes. The fruitiness in this reminds me a lot of the Black, but seems more appropriate here. Definitely tastes like Allagash. Good stuff. zeke626 (302), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Bottle, batch 104. Pours a slightly hazy, yellow body with orange hues and a generous, fluffy, off-white head. Aroma is belgian malts, spices, clove, with hints of apple, banana, and floral hops. Flavor is sweeter than the aroma would suggest - belgian malts, citrus hops, orange, spices, and honey near the finish. Soft, smooth mouthfeel; medium bodied. Sweet malt and honey finish that is dry and slightly sticky. The yeast derived spice compliments the subtle fruity notes of the well attenuated malt and sugars. This is quite simply one of the best American made Belgian beers and I never intend to go without several bottles in my cellar. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA
