Pour was orange with smallish head and some lacing. Weak aroma of musty fruit. The flavor in this was heavy spices, yeast out the wazoo under a strong grapey/peachy base. Mouthfeel was really carbonated, but it needed to be because it was sweet. This beer was really yeasty and reminded me of Unibroue beers. Good effort.

Distinctly different, but surprisingly not a favorite, considering I was really pissed off after trying about how much I paid for this and its sister beer. Its not bad, but I was expecting much much more. Its a very radiant and elegant looking beer in the glass, and I love the nose. The palate is not quite as tart as I was expecting, but instead has very complemntary flavors of red fruits, intermingled with the yeasty spiciness. It is what it is, just not much to it as far as complexity. Rather simple for Allagash

Quite exquiste. flavorful with nice European malts. the grape flavor is in the background yet has a great presence. one to enjoy with fine cuisine.

The aroma is unimpressive with malt, cheese yeast, and grapes. The appearance is deep gold amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall I like it but it’s not as good as I was hoping.

I reckon this is a 2006 bottle? I can’t remember, perhaps 2007. As with Victoria, this modification of Allagash’s tripel is elegant, fine looking (deep amber and fluffy head), full boded, and very piquant in the nose. My initial thought here was that the red grapes complemented this brewer’s Belgian yeast strain slightly better than the white, but over the long haul I think the opposite is (ever so marginally) the case. The distinctive tang of the white didn’t always work but was a bit more elegant than the red here, which tends to get a little murky during the finish. Not something I’d necessarily go to again, but another fine entry from Allagash.

Fruity and caramelly aroma. Pours a dark golden amber with a thin white head. Spicy yeast flavors with hints of caramel, smooth, candi sugar flavors, with fruity tones, grapes and berries. Very good.
