ross (1562), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 18, 2006 Bottle from Jason (kramer17801) Thanks! Glad I arranged the trade so I could get a bottle of this, however shortly after I found my local store got 18 bottles of it, so I got one of them too. (to cellar) In my opinion, this is not really worth cellaring. It is good tasting, easy to drink, and fruity and as most Allagash beers are - very easy to drink. It does not however, seem to say that it would hold up to any aging as does Interlude. This is more of something you would want to drink now, and enjoy it while it is around. It is a wonderful beer, highly drinkable, and very tasty, but it lacks something. I am not really sure what, hops? malts? no clue. There is no hint of alcohol in it, and actually I do not pick up much grape for it to have been brewed with 100 lbs of grapes. To me this tastes like a weaker, fruitier, less hoppy version of the Tripel. That said, I really enjoyed drinking it despite the complaining, and I am glad I got to try it. Is it worth the 14-16 dollars you pay for it? Probably. Multiple times? Nah.
VTHopHead (700), Barre, Vermont, USA Sep 28, 2008 750ml - Poured a darkish yellow amber in color with a medium whitish head that coats the beer. Really good lacing on th e glass. Aroma is sweat and yeastywith plenty of fruitiness (white grapes, apples). Flavor is yeasty with a mild Belgian, dry (sweetness no more) character... bubbly... Finish is quite dry and short.... lingering fruitiness. Not bad... not that great... a quite good beer though... zappafan99 (332), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA Sep 27, 2008 Taste 9/8 Bottle(2006) Looks: Gold body, white top. Aroma: Nice Belgian aroma with a grape sweetness. Taste: A blend of Belgium and grape. Full and even with a good finish. Dry, effervescent with a little sourness. Glad I tried it. Palidor19 (1312), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 28, 2008 Fantastic, its super strong with high malts and rich fruity flavors. its highly carbonated with low on the hos yet everything else works great. nick76 (2054), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 28, 2008 The aroma is kind of weak for a strong ale but there is definitely a fruity grapeness with yeast and malt. The appearance is cloudy with gold color and a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is really good. Floback (266), N-town, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Pint bottle from Knightly Spirits. Pours a golden color and a nice fingernail of white head. The aroma is reminiscent of a saison with wheat and sour yeast notes. Flavors are grainy, dark fruits, mild yeast, slightly metallic with tangy, vinous fruits in the finish. I find I enjoy the taste more as it adjusts to room temperature. Medium body and medium carbonation. Not bad, could be a great session Belgian Strong if it wasn’t so expensive.
