Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White delicately balances full flavor with a crisp, refreshing taste and subtle hints of spice. Naturally cloudy, bottled with yeast.

Tap at the Matchbox. Thoroughly hazy golden yellow with a lovely whipped cream head. Sweet aroma of caramelized onions, honey, and bananas. Clove taste with a quiet green apple and lemonade tartness. Dry, papery, yeasty. Palate is mildly undercarbonated with light to medium thickness, finishing very thin. Simple and sweet.

Pours a transparent yellow. Aroma is very skunky upon initial pour but as it warms up it smells more of clove, wheat, and citrus. Taste is a mixture of wheat and lemon. What is lacking in his brew is the finish; it is very flat. Other than that it is actually pretty solid and surprised me after the initial smell.

12 oz bottle purcahsed at Monaghans. Poured a classic hazy golden/yellow with a large bright white foamy head. Aroma of wheat, coriander, pepper, grass, lemon and some spicy pepper. Palate was very quaffable with a light medium palate, slight carbonation and an overall smooth feel. Flavor was spicy with nice accent on the coriander but not too much that it distracts from the fresh wheat and grassy flavors. This is a very nice beer for an underappreciated style.

Served on tap in a pint glass. The beer is a light yellow flaxen color that was almost clear. There was a nice white head that laid lightly on top. It smells light, fresh and citrus with a tiny bit of yeast but in no way overpowering. There is definitely a bit of citrus and sweetness to the beer. It has a perfume like aftertaste that stays in on the tongue. The beer goes down very light but with very fine carbonation but as it warms up it seems to expand in the mouth leaving a foam as it dissolves in your mouth. It goes down nicely and is light and refreshing but it does expand in the mouth somewhat as it warms up.

Very good White beer. Very true to style. Very similar to Hoegarden, but the differences are there to be tasted, in a complimentary way. I put this on tap on my back porch each summer. Gone through two sixtels so far and it is only August 18th.

From bottle. Very cloudy sunshine yellow with very thin white head. Aroma is yeasty and some banana. Reminds me of a hefe. Some hoppy bitterness on my tongue when tasting. Very spicy and prickly mouthfeel. Decent citrus (orange/lemon?) flavor in the long savor. Leaves no aftertaste.

Poured a beautiful cloudy yellow with BIG foamy head. This was one of my fav witbiers yet. Spicy, sweet, malty, little hoppy taste in there, yeasty. This had it all going on. Most complex witbier I’ve had and this was very, very good. I’ll have to try more Allagash offerings.
