Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White delicately balances full flavor with a crisp, refreshing taste and subtle hints of spice. Naturally cloudy, bottled with yeast.

Light and spicy beer, I wasn’t too impressed either time I tried it; there are many other white beers out there that beat this hands down.

Originally reviewed back on 5/19/03. Received 4.15 score. Added to my RB list to check "Maine" as a beer state consumed. A favorite summertime wit for me. Spicy and lemony. Clouded yellow appearance. Healthy white head. Peppercorns and coriander seed seem to grind against the teeth. Refreshing.

Been waiting to taste this high percentile witbier, this is one of my favorite styles. I love it when the label has the hypnotizing pour method and directions. Great appearance in a big clear glass. A little more hay colored than many witbiers. Aroma is a little sour in this short stubby twist off bottle. Initially the smell is a little musty.but once poured In the glass the aroma clears and is more volatile. Good creamy microbubble fizz. Flavor is thoroughly enjoyable. Very little if any bitterness in this brew. As you drink a mild impression marks it’s spot on the back of the throat that I hesitate to call bitter. Perhaps just a little malt bite, I don’t know. Good flavor for a witbier above 5% hides the alky well. Overall, just a plain good example of this enjoyable style, simply great. Certainly one of the better wheatbeers in my repertoire. Certainly as good as Pax and Ommegang. Not quite on par with East End wit and Hoegaarden. Better than sammy adams wit.

bottle. nice cloudy pale yellow appearance. just what you look for in a witbier. the head faded rather quickly but the clove and coriander aroma is there. quite a bit of carbonation but it doesn’t detract form the taste. the unique element that allagash has added is a mild bitter which i haven’t come across in the whites that i’ve tried. very nice. it gives it a crisp, refreshing edge that is sometimes lacking in this style. balances the sweet banana and spice well. definitely worth picking up.

Poured from bottle...very carbonated...nice white head...color is yellow cream, nice and hazy. Aroma is of lemon and citrus, very appealing. Very smooth drink. The carbonation is in the front of this one. Very drinkable and very tasty.

Hazy pale yellow pour with a huge bright white head. Nose is spicy and lemony. Flavor starts lightly sweet with some citrus and wheat followed by a light fruityness and finishing lightly dry and slightly tart. Light bodied and creamy with fizzy carbonation.
