Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, Allagash White delicately balances full flavor with a crisp, refreshing taste and subtle hints of spice. Naturally cloudy, bottled with yeast.

Has a hazy pale white gold pour with orange and yellow around the edges, a creamy white head, wheat, malt and mild coriander fragrances, faint white pepper aroma, has a wheat malt taste with lemon, very light pepper flavor, a balance of sweet and tart, light on the palate, lots of sticky lacing on the glass, tasty Wit, this beer looks like it was made with more pilsner malt compared to other Wits with all of gold in the brew, dry on the palate, I would get this again.

First taste 6/2/07. Had this with a grilled burger for dinner. Pour is a cloudy yellow-gold with a small white head. Aromas and flavors are of orange peel, yeast and spice. Very similar to a Hoegaarden, but not as heavy on the coriander, or flavor in general. Slightly better body than the Avery White Rascal, but not as flavorfull. Overall, I found it to be refreshing on a 90+ degree Florida day, but I was hoping for a little more "punch" of flavor. Somewhat disappointing in this respect. I’ll put it on the list to give it another try in the future.

Robe blonde paille voilée surmontée d’une mousse blanche mince. Arômes de céréales. Saveurs de blé, de céréales et de houblon.

Rated 1/28/07: Lemon yellow pour with a medium white head and mild lacing, nice and cloudy. Soft aroma with a nice delicate flowery nose coupled with mild spices. Mouthfeel is an odd blend of creamy smooth and fizzy, weird but kind of nice. Flavor seems more delicate than the aroma, nice light citrus flavor of lemon and orange. The spices aren’t as prevelent but are still noticeable. Extremely quenching and satisfying, but I prefer my Wits to be a little more assertive.

Boring to say the least. Allagash’s other brews, the ones they aren’t extorting us for money on, are excellent. Maybe I am a pureist. I can’t even spell. But this taste like unfiltered sulfur water with some yeast and some flowers. Maybe a twist of lemon but not that enamel eating strength. hmmm..

12oz bottle. Pours a light cloudy yellow with nice lacing, but head does not last long. Nice wheaty aroma, if a bit light. Taste is light and lemony - too light. I’ve always been a big hefeweizen fan and have recently been trying some Belgian witbiers, and generally being a bit disappointed in their lightness. I’ve been doing some reading and am learning that the lightness generally goes along with the style - along with spices, but not much spice was noticeable in this one. Personally, I’d take a decent hefeweizen over this one any day.

A well done wit. Very carbonated, the sample I had. Refreshing summer beer with the characteristic orange and coriander flavors. Perfumy. One of my favorite styles.
