duff (5405), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Apr 16, 2008 Cask@Pigs Ear Fest. Pretty sweet it has to be said, and on the thin side of things. Some roastyness in the finish, but its very subtle. Pretty below average i thought.
Mes_and_Sim (4365), Highgate, Greater London, England Dec 26, 2007 A Sim rate (cask at Pig’s Ear BF): Sweet, caramel aroma that’s very rich. Roasty coffee flavour with a slightly bitter finish. OK, but not great. It’s a stout... is a stout... is a stout. KnutAlbert (2178), Oslo, Norway Dec 17, 2007 Cask at Pig’s Ear BF 2007.
Coffee, some smokiness, but not overwhelming. Sourish finish. Pub (4046), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Sep 27, 2007 Bottle conditioned, 500ml, from Harbury Beer Fest ’07. Black with a slight brown head. Poured flat and still, difficult to get a head on it, licorice aroma. Thin, watery beer in the bottle, it doesn’t shout stout at you at all. Plenty of smoky, burnt notes, a bit bon-firey in character, but much too thin to get much else. Disappointing. Small tan head. Black with some alcohol present. Crisp and smooth on the palate. Bitter roast finish.
