Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 28, 2008 Pinkish-accented golden hue. Nice hint of raspberry, hints of mead, slightly spritzy. Good balance of fruit but the beer presents mainly in the mouthfeel and the mead tastes is rather subdued. tiggmtl (4181), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Apr 14, 2008 Aroma hints at raspberry and honey but is mostly just sweet. Brilliantly clear golden body is tinged pink. Fizzy white head recedes rapidly to a thin ring. Flavour offers more malt character than the aroma suggested - cookie dough and toasty notes. Very sweet and floral without a lot of fruit character. Somewhat watery with very fizzy carbonation that settles out quickly and I actually find I prefer the mouthfeel once the carbonation has mostly fizzed out. Shaker glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (Kensington, Oct-07). CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Feb 4, 2008 (750ml bottle) Sampled at Ciderwinder 5 in Victoria. Courtesy of Oakes. Mild seed with a raspberry jam aroma. Raspberry, almond, marzipan. So sweet, nutty and woody. Poorly executed. HogTownHarry (3200), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Apr 26, 2008 Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel and tupalev - bottle courtesy of J&K. Near-clear pour, just slightly pink-gold with no head; I know it’s a mead not a beer, but it didn’t yell "cool! drink me!!!" Sweet sugar cookie aroma, lightly fruity and floral (nectar). The taste reminded me of a bourbon & ginger ale massively watered down - also sweet, gently floral and even sweeter as it warmed. Watery body, very flat and quick-finishing - easy to drink, but I wouldn’t want a whole (or even half) bottle of this stuff. jerc (3114), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2008 2008-04-18. Pale yellow body, no head to speak of. Big aroma of very sweet honey, light sweet raspberry. I actually sort of enjoy the flavour, which has a very sweet almost perfume like honey and fruit. Something in the undertones that is hard to place adds a something to it. Syrupy average palate. Pleasant, but gets quite sweet quickly. Bottle courtesy of Presario.
