Sep 1, 2004 Also from the Bier Garden in Portsmouth VA ... on 8/30/04 for me! Cool. Anyway, I took this as a very wheaty-looking beer with a chunky milky complexion. It’s gristy and almost yeasty in the flavors, but sweet and nice with a sugary finish. Schoen.

Feb 18, 2002 Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light yellow, light density of small and medium sized particles. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, light bread), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Finish is moderately bitter. Medium body, dry and creamy texture, lively carbonation. A solid, clean German lager whose strong points are a creamy mouthfeel with a great flavor balance, and whose main weakness is a very light (albeit pleasant) aroma (though my bottle is almost certainly not exactly at peak freshness).

Jun 7, 2003 Light gold color. Medium to large head. Aroma is bready and yeasty. A lighter bodied lager. Malts are mild and slightly sweet. Hops are mild and slightly spicy. A fairly typical euro-lager, it is extremely well balanced though. Well made, light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Mar 3, 2005 Bottle: Hazy golden colour. Long lasting white big head. Malty and bready aroma, with some hoppy smell too. Has a thin taste, also a bit sweet and malty. Very little bitterness in the aftertaste. A easy drinking beer. Nothing else

Jan 16, 2004 Heavily hazed golden appearance, well carbonated, moderate foam. Sweet malty, grainy aroma with a touch of herbs and flowers. Sweet honey, lemon flavor, woody tones, dryness and slight bitterness in the finish.

Jul 25, 2004 Had this at The Bier Garden in Portsmouth, VA on 7-25-04. Lightly hazed amber body with a tall goldish tan head. Aroma is slightly grainy and malted. A bit grassy as well. Taste is also doughy and grassy but with some sweetness around the edges. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and a bit thin. Finish is short. Sort of grainy with some faint malt and yeast notes. Not too bad.

Jan 2, 2005 A nice, if not amazing lager. Nice appearance, though a bit pale for my tastes. Decent mouthfeel, though it could be fuller. Slightly sweet in the flavor, and fairly crisp. Not bad...not great.

Nov 22, 2004 Not a lager fan. Amber body was cloudy and the foamy white head lasted well. There was a sweet malt aroma with s touch of hoppiness. Thin and carbonated in the mouth. Flavor was somehat interesting with notes of sweetness and spice but, overable, a mediocre beer.
