Truly enjoyable, but any doppelbock with a name that ends in "ator" is going to be compared with Celebrator, and this one falls short. A good doppel, dark with a medium fluffy coffee colored head. Good nose of dark malt, good taste of malt and chocolate and coffee and dried fruit. But none of the mouth-filling intensity of a Celebrator. Good beer, really good beer, just not in the "ator" league.

Beautiful dark chestnut in color and barely translucent when put to light, with a beautiful 1/2" tan, foamy and unwavering head. Caramel, golden raisins, Cocoa Puffs, prunes and copper provide a standard display for aroma. Flavor is wondrously sweet. Caramel, chocolate and toffee fit the bill as headliners. Mellow golden delicious apples and mild plums give it the fruity dimensions while some harvested crop characteristics (grain, whole wheat toast, etc.) provide the more earthen accentuations. Lingers only momentarily on the palate and is quite clean. Scaled back carbonation might be just a touch too calm, but it’s nothing to bitch about. Finishes with caramelized, lightly salted pecans. Solid.

500mL bottle. Very dark brown pour with ruby highlights and an extremely thin khaki head. Fairly effervescent. Aroma is full of molasses, caramel, chocolate, malts and some anise. Delicious chocolate and caramel flavors start off and give way to a strong ESB-like bitterness and some roasty qualities. Just a touch of warming alcohol at the end with some hints of raisins. This would be great if it had more body.

Bottle. Pours a beautiful brown/red (which, I guess, is amber) with a thick head that lasts. Aroma is a dull hint of hybrid caramel. Flavor is almost exclusively molasses, with a subtle hint of coffee. A very drinkable beer for the style.

All I could detect was malts and alacohol here. Flavor was more toward the alcohol and a bit watery. Expected a sweet taste but that was not there. Smooth and easy to drink doppelbock. Body was dark but held to light got a tint od dark red. Small tan head and some lacing.

Bottle poured a dark ruby red almost black with a nice thick white head. Aroma is sweet malts and roast, ripe fruits. Flavor is sweet but not too sweet, roasty with a hint of chocolate. Not bad at all.

Very dark brown in color with a thin head. Doughy, cookie like malt aroma with hints of toast and licorice. Moderate sweetness, some roasted barley a bit of licorice and some plum. Hints of cocoa in the finish. Not bad.
