| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Dark brown with hints of red hue and a thin light-tan head. Aroma is light - fruity cherries and raisings, hints of chocolate. Flavor is roasty malts, lightly sweet but well balanced. Notes of raisins, dark cherries, plums, but not as deep and rich as some dopplebocks I have tried and preferred. Still, a solid made db. Cheers! DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 3, 2008 Bottle: Pours a dark ebony color with a touch of mahogany through the edges. An intense brown, that’s for sure. Light off-white head and some lacing. The nose has bright hoppy notes with some light berry, fig, muddled chocolate and thick toasty carob. The flavor is a bit more bitter than I thought it would be, more drinkable than a cloying doppelbock naturally; I like that. Some mellow astringency and light alcohol notes follow up and a creamy roasty tail is to follow. Nice doppelbock, a little different, which is welcome in the summer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2008 in bottle. pours dark brown with a medium off-white head. this is like a lighter version of ettaler curator without the licorice. fairly well balanced, the palate is mellow and smooth. roasted horehound candy flavor. perhaps a slight bit of chicory? it is really weird that this beer has virtually no aroma other than the ethanol. it has a smooth milk chocolate profile. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2008 500 ml. bottle. Very dark, arguably mahogany color with an impressive tan head. Aroma is primarily darkish fruit. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor starts much like a porter with some chocolate, but dark plummy fruits come forward. The finish is dry, almost astringent, based on near burnt malt. Drinks extremely well.
