bierkoning (5985), La Tropica, Netherlands Sep 17, 2009 Tap @ Weinstuble Rebstock Biberach (BTW, they have 200+ single malts in stock, some of them distilled before my year of birth: 1962) Herbal, grassy hopbitter flavor. Some grassy hops in the aroma. Long grassy aftertaste. Medium bodied. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 16, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy typically carbonated yellow-white colored body. The weak aroma was malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt and mild hops. Not one that I would buy again. Allen (1282), Switzerland Jul 12, 2009 Bottled 33cl. Courtesy of Quack-Duck. It pours a clear yellow beer with a decent sized white head. Dissapointing grainy aroma of patato, corn, diacetyl, agressive earthy hops, chestnut, butter, apple and wax. Poor taste which is rather sour, agressive with an obtrusive bitterness. Not much carbonation. Some apple and banana sneaking in. Grainy and metallic. Strong astringent finish. A very agressive beer. Poor. I didn’t enjoy this beer much- a very bad example for an german Pilsener. Thanks a lot Quack-Duck! drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 2, 2009 mmm, you know, it’s not bad, just not especially good. Got this bottle at Sam’s in Chi. Poured with a fizzy white head that quickly subsided; no lace. Color is a pale, very slightly hazy yellow. Aroma is grainy and hoppy. Flavors ’bout the same. Little more pronounced bitterness. Body’s ok. Kind of a generic German Pils. Finish is more bitter than sweet, but not bad. CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Mar 22, 2009 22oz Bottle.
Smells slightly oxidized old pilsener malt character, wet and a little dead. Pours a well hazed and golden-tinted amber, with a soapy tall finger. Flavor develops more aged graham cracker, pie crust, and some sweet pale, pale honey. Not necessarily crisp, but still enjoyable. Decent. Certainly getting a little old, but still respectable. Body fades at the end and the hop levels are lower than I would like, but I still can appreciate this. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Feb 24, 2009 Bottle. Hazy bright gold with a large eggshell white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles. The aroma is sweet and fruity with some sweet potatoes and a little bit of freshly dug soil. The taste has some raw potato notes with a little bit of grass. There is also some biscuit in the slightly soapy finish. A nice light pils that I would drink again. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Oct 26, 2008 Updated: Oct 30, 2008Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Draft at the Bad Durkheim Wine Festival. Pours a bright gold amber color. Aromas fruit, floral, and malt. Flavor is malty, with a fine hop taste. Hop finish and aftertaste. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Oct 16, 2008 Pours golden with an extra soapy white head. The aroma has sweet lightly toasted pils malt, some creaminess and a touch of grassiness. Medium smooth body with very light carbonation. The flavor starts spot-on like the aroma, but the finish has some spicy and a mineral water slant to it. A decent pils.
