| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 12, 2007 Sweet rich beer, close to cloying at times, chocolate, caramel, cereal, and candy cherry. Lots of flavors in the malts keep it interesting with a lot of roasty and nutty flavors. Palate is thick and heavy, chewy towards the finish. Pours muddy brown with a soapy off-white head. eaglefan538 (2401), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Pours a murky orangey brown color, a decent initial head, weak lacing, pretty boring appearance. Aroma was strong caramel and some chocolate. Flavor was sickly sweet caramel, chocolate notes, molasses, sticky. Only a slight detection of some grassy hops, otherwise this isn’t finishing lager crisp at all. A miserable representation of what Germany can do. Dickinsonbeer (3499), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 27, 2007 Also found this one at Stateline in Md. Pours a nice deepamber/woody brown with light carbonation and a lasting small head. Aroma is nutty, grainy, toasted malts, light chocolate, some caramel and a light herbal and slightly metallic hops. Ok grainy flavor, a bit weak overall even for a dunkel, light malts, somewhat stale, soem light hops in the end. Mouthfeel was a bit weak and not as rounded or smooth as many other higher quality german dunkels like Ayinger. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Fairly dense palate, and not sweet. argo0 (6994), Washington DC, USA
