Brown color with a small beige lid. Dark bread aromas with light caramel and flower spread on top. Sweet light caramel flavors dominate. Smooth and somewhat sprity in one quaff. There are some light raisins that distract from the chocolate dryness. Seems more like a hearty amber.

Deep brown to black, looked impressive, flavors were lightly malty and bready, some roasted notes, yet very watery, which simply killed this beer for me.

The most notable thing about this brew is that it’s somewhat watery, even for a German dunkel. It’s color suggests far more malt than this beer delivers, and overall, given that I adore this style of beer, particularly from German brewers, I have to chalk it up as a slight disappointment, though an enjoyable one.

Bottle pours a deep red with brown hues, small white pancake batter like head, light carbonation, with spotty lacing.   Malty & biscuity aroma.   Slight prune & caramel.   Malty/Biscuity on the tongue.   Medium body and mouthfeel.   Finishes with minor burnt malts, with very slight dark pitted fruit.   Not bad.

Dark, dark red beer with a smooth and cool cut for a dunkel. There’s just a hint of nuttiness, but this is a excellent smooth drinker. Yummy.

Head is average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, nuts, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, slightly metallic. Pretty good flavor balance (read: quaffability), but the aroma and richness just aren’t there. A little metallic. Decent, but unremarkable.

I like it. Unique, though. I like the malty German hoppy and slightly fruity nose. Not like most lagers I’ve had.

A medium thick offwhite head rests atop a deep red-brown body with some lace clanging to the glass. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel and slight sour/bitter notes. The flavor is also sweet and malty with notes of caramel. A slightly bitter hoppy note lingers into the finish. Medium bodied, slightly oily and a touch warming.
