Very soft and aromatic with plenty of roasted malt and malty sweetness. A wee perfumy touch and only a weak bitterness. Excellent. 150202 argo0 (7030), Washington DC, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Bottle. Pears on syrup in the aroma. Malty flavor with caramel and pear, flowing into a slight caramelly bitter aftertaste. Not too well balanced and a bit too sweet. CaptainCougar (5544), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Bottle: Pours a transparent ruby copper with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Sweet toasty caramel malty aroma has some lightly bready German yeast. Body has decent thickness and sweet dark caramel maltiness with some doughy German lager yeast toward a thinner, slightly drier finish. A pretty good dunkel. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2005 This poured practically headless, but it had a bright & clear reddish-brown body to make up for it. The aroma is a toasty malt with a hint of chocolate. The only downside to this brew is that it’s a bit thin, watery. The aroma looses the roast of the toast and turns on the sweet caramel malts with a surge of milk chocolate. Mildly sweet finish, surprizingly clean. This is a very drinkable dunkel.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2005 Brown color with a small beige lid. Dark bread aromas with light caramel and flower spread on top. Sweet light caramel flavors dominate. Smooth and somewhat sprity in one quaff. There are some light raisins that distract from the chocolate dryness. Seems more like a hearty amber. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Bottle from State Line. Pours hazy deep brown with 1-finger tan head. Aroma of heavy Wheaties, nuts, some tannins and brown sugar. Tastes richly malty, like a bowl of Wheaties, with some figs, nuts, ovaltine. Fairly dense palate, and not sweet. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 25, 2004 Head is average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, nuts, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, slightly metallic. Pretty good flavor balance (read: quaffability), but the aroma and richness just aren’t there. A little metallic. Decent, but unremarkable.
