Aromas of smoke, sourdough bread, caramel and malt. Flavor is full of rich hops, burnt toffee, chocolate, and herbs. Real nice smooth bitterness with good chewy dark malt character. Pleasant lingering finish, with an aftertaste of apples and strawberries. A very good, balanced brew. Braudog (3770), Dayton, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2003 Pours a nice reddish copper with a TALL, firm, reddened head. Translucent body. Nose is European hops, malt, and caramel or toffee. There is a malt laden surprise awaiting your tongue with this. More caramel notes abound. Light hop presence. Crisp clean flavor and mouthfeel. Excellent dunkel! EithCubes (2152), Indiana, USA

Grapey malt touches, but not as much as in a Bock. Beautiful murky brown / chestnut pour with a big lacing rocky tanned head. Nutty taste with red berry swirling. Medial sweetness balanced by faint bitterness. Really tasty and addictively quaffable. Mf is excellent – crisp and silken, light-medium body with a good dose of malt. Solid Dunkel! Very soft and aromatic with plenty of roasted malt and malty sweetness. A wee perfumy touch and only a weak bitterness. Excellent. 150202 Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
