Growler. Gold pour. Malt and hops are in harmony. Citrus hops lead the way with some biscuit aroma too. Flavor is hoppy and malty together. Tropical fruit and pine. Good stuff.

October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown, growler courtesy of Hopscotch. Pours amber/orange, of-white head. Aroma is hoppy, malty with hints of fresh hops, leading to a nice citrus nose. Flavor, lots of hops, sweet mouthfeel that was very exceptional, reminded me a lot of the New Zeland hops used in Nelson. Heavy hops and once again, Alpine manages to keep it very drinkable and smooth with very enjoyable hops.

Growler… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!… Clear golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Spicy, peppery, earthy hop nose. Full-bodied and chewy with gentle carbonation. Leans toward the sweet side of balance. Sweet toffee and caramel malts outweigh bitter, spicy hops. Lengthy, bittersweet finish.

On tap at PP Carlsbad. Hazy orange pour, nice off-white head. Piney hops, caramel malt, biscuits, citrus, hint of grass, and some tropical fruit. Really good brew.

growler - thanks alex for another alpine hookup; this one was tasty; dark orange with slight haze and fluffy white head; big nose of resiny hops; slightly on the thin side with a little malty sweetness; some booze and quite bitter, but also quite easy to knock down; a lovely DIPA

On tap at Alpine, I was excited to get a good sample of this beer. It was yellow in color, little head. The smell was kind of brutal hops. The flavor made me open my eyes a little wider between the extreme hoppiness, pungent aroma, and obviously high alcohol content of the beer. This was good and I wish I’d been able to drink a growler of this but you can’t do everything especially when there is Duet waiting to be drank. A while back at PPSB. Pours hazy orange/amber with a moderate sized white head and good lace. Smells resiny hoppy and bitter, slightly fruity as well, overall mellow though. Tastes moderately bitter and earthy hoppy, slight caramel as well. Just alright. Medium body, good carbonation. Could use more body and more hop flavor and bitterness.

On cask, Blue Palms. Pours dark gold with little head. Aroma is a bright, fresh hoppy blend of citrus (grapefruit) and a bit of tropical leaves. Palate is medium-bodied, with a long finish. Flavor is citrusy in the body, not all that well balanced, and with a bitter hop finish. Besides the aroma, not sure this one comes together as well as Alpine’s other IPA offerings.
