Commercial Description:
Boris is a hearty Imperial Stout that is aged in 10 year old Bourbon barrels. We’ve added a custom blend of cold brewed coffee to enhance the complexity. You’ll love the rich maltiness with hints of chocolate and dark fruit in this formidable brew

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours out black with a moderate tan head. Big aroma of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon and slight earthy oak. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol and a very slight lingering bourbon flavor, body a bit thin for packing a 10% punch, good beer with a good idea, it didn’t all come together for some reason, maybe that and the fact that I really don’t care for coffee so unless its over the top I’m rather impartial.

22 oz bomber from padrefan98, thanks buddy. Poured a deep dark balckish/brown with a huge beige head. Aroma is bourbon, coffee, slight barrel notes, alcohol and lots of roastiness overall. The body on this one is suprisingly thin, seems off for the style, with lots of alcohol heat. The bourbon flavor in this one actually lends a hint of sourness and doesnt meld well with roastiness of the stout. Still a solid beer but the flavor could use some bolstering.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Pours black color with an average to large frothy brown head that mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted dark coffee malt and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark coffee flavor with a medium to heavy acid bitter finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex stout.

Bottle from Lone Hill - thanks Stan! Poured a really great ruby black with a bubbly and full bourbon brown frothchild of a head. Nose was interesting, but stayed shallow even with warmth: tart coffee, slight roast, stretched hops. Had no bass notes, and this was also a problem in the flava-flave. Was really top-heavy with bright notes of coffee and dark chocolate - I don’t know how these things get bright, but there was no lower balance to this beer. Really reminded me of the pungent, green grape, sharp openings of a Danish Imp Stout but without the dirty roast to keep it grounded. Clamored to find the bourbon/wood notes but couldn’t. An odd bird.

7/16/2009: Alpine BORIS is pretty much black in color and has a diminishing tan head. There is plenty of espresso and cocoa in the aroma, but when warmer this beer smells like burnt coffee on the warmer plate. Thick expresso dominates the flavor along with black walnut, dark chocolate, and a touch of sourness. This beer is dry and has a bittersweet heading toward acidic bitterness. It also has a medium to medium-full body, but is a bit overcarbonated. Overcarbonation plus burnt/sour flavors do not make for a good expererience!

22 fl. oz. bottle (10% Alcohol by Volume) shared by alexdad06. Rating #109 for this beer.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt and roasted malt as well as light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of wood, coffee, roasted malt, and vanilla, as well as light notes of alcohol, leading to a dry and roasted finish. The alcohol bites the tongue. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
