Commercial Description:
Boris is a hearty Imperial Stout that is aged in 10 year old Bourbon barrels. We’ve added a custom blend of cold brewed coffee to enhance the complexity. You’ll love the rich maltiness with hints of chocolate and dark fruit in this formidable brew

Bottle thanks to drewbeerme for this sample. Pours a dark black with a beige creamy head. Coffee roasted malts, burnt caramels, and ashy aroma. Flavors are similar. Coffee, burnt, somewhat stale caramel malts. Ashy finish. Slightly bitter and sour. Not too enjoyable.

Black with a brown head. Nice aroma of dry wood, coffee, cocoa powder with a whiff of whiskey. Light frothy mouthfeel. Mostly dry flavors of medium roasted coffee, dusty chocolate, with lightly sweet vanilla in the background. Alcohol is well hidden. Nice dry IRS here. Thanks to Beerbill for the bottle.

On cask at Obriens. Jet black hue with soapy brown head. Nose is rich coffee espresso with an edge of dark chocolate bitterness. Flavor is similar coffee and chocolate malts, a touch of milk chocolate in the middle with some sour milk tang and light grassy hops, finished dry with low bitterness. Smooth and creamy with no alcohol presence, very drinkable with solid stout qualities.

bottle shared by superdave70 at bill and wendy’s... pours a nice dark brown color with a short lived brown head and some drippy lace. the nose has a distinct sour/cream cheese-y stink of aging coffee along with smoke, lactose, chocolate, minor bourbon spiciness and a bunch of roasted grain. flavor is a bit of a let down... lots of roast, some smoke, bad bourbon, old coffee and a very unpleasant sour dusty character. body is medium. sourness makes it thin and easy to drink but hard to swallow. carbonation is sharp. something is definitely wrong here? 7/3/4/2/12/2.8

Bottle shared by JCB. Black pour with a fizzy tan head. Strong nose with tangy coffee, a surprisingly acetic smell, and tart, harsh notes. Weird. Was it that late in the evening, or was the beer that weird? Not so good.

In the ridiculous box I got from Snojerk recently. Gives you a pretty fizzy brown head that quickly dissipates. A decent vanilla and faint roasted coffee malt aroma. The flavor falls a little short unfortunately and has a slightly off finish. I think it is the overwhelming roast flavor that is getting to me. A little lacking in complexity and body.

Sampled at bockyhorsey’s tasting. Thanks to whoever it was that brought it out. Pours jet black with no head (I’m starting to think there is something wrong with our glasses at this point). Aroma is of super heavy roast, some malt sweetness, and minor bourbon notes. Taste is over the top roast and bourbon. Way too highly carbonated, and the amount of acrid roastiness is over-whelming. Drain pour.

Shared by JCB, thanks Jason. Pours a dark black with a fizzy brown head. The nose shows coffee, roast, fruity elements, grainy, bitter chocolate. Flavor is roasty, kind of thin, fruity, chocolate, grainy, weird tanginess. Palate is kind of thin, more roast than I’d like.
