Aromas first of pine hops then behind that a good dose of chocolate, and a touch of coffee through much roastiness. Flavor was roasty with good chocolate and coffee notes and some nice pine hops at the back of each sip. A good hoppy stout that was well carbonated with a slightly astringent finish. I did enjoy this one much. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma, earthy, some chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee, and some pine. Flavor, roasty, pine, coffee, chocolate, with a good deal of earthy bitterness on the finish. I was surprised at how hoppy this was. Good stuff though. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada

Pours as a dark opaque black with a san colored pillow of foam. The aroma is a sweet and smoked malt profile that will really open up more in the flavor. Such a rich sweet flavor that is displayed by dark roasted malt and light background of Irish cream or vanilla aftertaste that this makes for an excellent stout. Would love to see this distributed like the other Alpine beers. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2007 Pours black with a small off tan head. Smells of roast, chocolate, and dark malts. The taste is much the same, although it got roastier as it got warmer. Good amount of toasted malts an chocolate really showed up. I thought this was well balanced and pretty flavorful. A little bit sweet and bitter but nothing too bad that threw off the flavor characters.
