Commercial Description:
The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream. 1.060 OG 31 IBU 6%ABV

22oz bottle shared by Sliffy & Pud - Poured very dark brown almost black with a big tan creamy head. Aromas first of pine hops then behind that a good dose of chocolate, and a touch of coffee through much roastiness. Flavor was roasty with good chocolate and coffee notes and some nice pine hops at the back of each sip. A good hoppy stout that was well carbonated with a slightly astringent finish. I did enjoy this one much.

Bottle: Pours dark brown with a khaki head. Aroma, earthy, some chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee, and some pine. Flavor, roasty, pine, coffee, chocolate, with a good deal of earthy bitterness on the finish. I was surprised at how hoppy this was. Good stuff though.

Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy, biegaman and viggo - blankboy’s bottle. Opaque reddish brown, solid tan creamy head. Sticky coffee/chocolate roast malt, solid hops, very dark and malty. Very dark tasting - thick with malt, moderate alcohol, nice bitterness. Fairly thick, light astringency, nice malty aftertaste - very good.

22 oz bomber purchased @ Southbay Drugs and Liquor. Pours as a dark opaque black with a san colored pillow of foam. The aroma is a sweet and smoked malt profile that will really open up more in the flavor. Such a rich sweet flavor that is displayed by dark roasted malt and light background of Irish cream or vanilla aftertaste that this makes for an excellent stout. Would love to see this distributed like the other Alpine beers.

Thanks MikeTD. Black pour small beige head. Aroma is chocolate. Flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, leafy hops. Creamy mouthfeel, full body and lots of chocolate flavor. Just a good tasting stout.

Pours black with a small off tan head. Smells of roast, chocolate, and dark malts. The taste is much the same, although it got roastier as it got warmer. Good amount of toasted malts an chocolate really showed up. I thought this was well balanced and pretty flavorful. A little bit sweet and bitter but nothing too bad that threw off the flavor characters.
