Commercial Description:
The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream. 1.060 OG 31 IBU 6%ABV

650 ml bottle I picked up at Liars club. Pours an opaque black color with a thin tan head that quickly disappeared. The aroma is loaded with chocolate. The flavor leans more to espresso (with chocolate as an afterthought) and a bit of earthiness present for good measure. The mouthfeel is full and creamy with adequate carbonation. The finish is long and dry with lingering coffee. Overall: a superb stout. Recommended.

Black with a tan head. Aroma is nice and roasty with plenty of coffee showing, oatmeal, and a little caramel. Taste is very roasty, with some dark chocolate, and bakers chocolate, a bit mettalic. Good brew.

Bottle courtesy of cbkschubert. Dry oatmeal and roast for aroma. Black body with light tan head. Chocolate and dry roasted flavors with a touch of carbination nticable with a good belch that stired the dog. Good beer thanks Craig.

Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma is sweet chocolate and coffee. Flavor is bitter coffee, dark chocolate and a bit metalic. Bitter burnt wood finish.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a dense black with a huge, sudsy, light brown head. The aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is again chocolate and roasted malt with a little bit of tobacco and coffee as well. Just a little bit light bodied - this one could use a little more oomph.

This was a very nice example of a West Coast Stout. I could drink this often. A great beer.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with bu11zeye (thanks!). Poured a dark, dark brown color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, caramel, a little earthy, and a touch of maple. Tastes of roast, chocolate, and some coffee. Both the tastes and body on the thin side.

Sampled during Cheesehead YeHA in Brookfield, Wisconsin and shared by MrFacto. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissolves to a fine film and tan ring with some spotty lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, a touch of molasses, coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, well carbonated with a tinge of vinegar and dark malt character. Finish is metallic, sour dark malt with a slight vinegar fruit aftertaste. Alpine Beer Company is better than this so I am sure this was an infected bottle. Will try again!
