WeeHeavySD (1539), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Apr 24, 2008 8th rating of this brew, shared with bikesanbeer to congratulate him on grad school stuff. Pours surprisingly ilght pink with a bright white head. It looks a little like fruit punch. Sour tart nose with big punches of dyacetal, that nasty nose of gross buttered popcorn. Thankfully it is only on the back end in the taste. Nice big cherry tartness on the front end and some nice other characteristics. Some of the oakness comes through as well, and each sip leaves less present diacetal in my mouth but when the beer leaves my mouth its all thats left. The good parts of this beer are exciting the bad parts are severely disappointing. Without the diacetal it would probably really shine, with it there are some clouds obscuring a bright sun. I hope that Alpine doesn’t take this as their only shot at this style and goes for broke on more endeavors.

Nose is filled with yeast and light cherry tone. The flavor has again a lot of yeast and oaky, giving a tart, lightly sugary, but very dry and acidic aftertaste.
Really couldn’t get over the vinagry acidic taste. Overpriced. JK (2355), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 15, 2008 Some brett in the aroma and the flavor. Lots of yeast in the aroma and light cherry. The flavor however, is loaded with sweet cherry, like cherry pie filling, perhaps not that sweet. A little acidic. Sour for a fruit beer. Mildly sour. A bright red color. A very nice fruit beer. Thanks to BDR for sharing. DragonStout (1138), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Poured an odd peach color with a thin lacing head. The nose was of vinious cherries with some sweetness. Flavour mellowed out ot some sour cherries with only a hint of sweetness. This was slightly strange but finished off sour. AgentSteve (606), Livermore, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 Updated: Jul 14, 2008Rare bottle courtesy of seaoflament, pours a cool bright pink with a hint of orange in it. The nose is Chardonnay like with a touch of tart cherries. The flavor tart mostly to start, with a subtle cherry mid, followed by a perfect oak, toasted almond nutty finish. As it warms a bit, subtle coconut is present in the nose. Really enjoyable on a 100+ California evening coinciding with my 600th rating and 37th Birthday. Boutip (1716), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 7, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Gford217: Poured a light red color ale with a light pink bubbly head with some average retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of red wine and tart notes with some light sour cherries. Taste is a mix between some sour cherries, with some tart notes with loads of oak and some red wine notes. Average carbonation with limited funk notes when I was expecting a lot more from the description. Overall, I though this was easily drinkable and maybe a bit light for the kind of beer it would like to be.
