henrikb (1298), Aarhus, Denmark Sep 10, 2008 Deep hazy blood orange red body with a white head; Not a lot of aroma (in grows seriously with some warmth and time in the glass), what is there is very true, cherry meet, barnyard and so sour that you can smell it; Huge deep super impressive body, complex sour, like the best Belgium examples, lots of acetic acids and malic with very balanced both sweetness and slat touch, Amazing; Long very acetic and malic finish, super complex and very balanced, lots of aroma, cherry pit in the front with pleasant hay aromas behind. Very great beer. Amazing! papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Jun 1, 2008 On tap@O’Brien’s: Cloudy pink grapefruit color with just a ring of small bubbles around the rim of the Chimay glass. Very sharp winey vinegar aroma. Acidic red vine vinegar bite on the tip of the tongue followed by a hint of sour black cherry and a very dry woody finish. Light body is tangy and crisp with crisp, lively carbonation. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 1, 2008 Thank you John for rating this beer alerting me to the existence of this gem of a brew. Had this tonight at O’brien’s. Gotta say I really liked it. Poured for me a big bright red with not much of head by the time I sat at the bar to enjoy it. Nose threw me for a loop, big big funky farmhouse with cherries. Taste is a really nice cherry with a lot of tartness and pucker. There is a really nice La Folie like undertone in this beer. For a sour that is a pretty big compliment in my opinion. Really really tasty beer, I feel lucky to have had it so early in its existence. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA May 31, 2008 On tap at OBriens. $7. Pours with a big frothy white head over a cloudy sea of orange amber liquid. Lots of funky feet in the aroma. Sweaty gym socks. Clothes left wet in the laundry for a week. Wonderful aroma. Very tart. Some acetic acid. Tart yet soft. Gives me the illusion of sweetness, yet I suspect it’s dry. Excellent. Very, very, good.
