Commercial Description:
6.6% Belgian Brown Ale aged 3 months in Calloway Vineyard’s red wine oak barrels with cinnamon, nutmeg (fresh, hand-ground) and Pumpkin. Some special wild yeast gives it a cherry pie tart flavor and the spices are gracefully subtle. The red wine helps with some tang, too.

22oz bottle. pours reddish brown with off white head. nose of pumpkin, spices, and some bretty sourness. flavor is acidic and tannic at first with mild red wine notes and sourness but quickly the pumpkin and cinnamon comes and flattens the palate out leaving you wanting more of the tannins and sourness. still a real tasty experiment that works.

Courtesy of Hopdog. Poured a cloudy lighter brown color with a sticky beige head. The aroma is spices, some carmel malts, and subtle cinnamon. Flavors are mostly carmel with some spices, vanilla, subtle pumpkin notes, and a hint of wild yeast in the finish.

Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a reddish color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention but no lacing. Aroma of oak with some sour notes and some very light cinnamon notes. Taste is dominated by some sour oak notes with some traces of cinnamon. I hardly could trace pumpkin or cloves in here and this beer was dominated by the red wine barrel. Full body with average carbonation. Not really a pumpkin beer but not a great sour either.

Tap and bottle. Poured a slightly hazed deep copper brown color with a minimal head. The aroma was mildly tart with a hint of peach. Overall the aroma was on the light side. The flavor had a mildly tart start followed by a dry light spice on the finish. Light to medium body.

Bottle: Pours a slightly hazy amber orange with a wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet, earthy, oaky tart fruits. Body starts semi-sweet and woodsy with some butter toffee flavor and good tart balance. Finishes drier, earthy and bittersweet with some toasted and oaky vinous notes. A nice, fairly complex sour ale, but would be better without the buttery character.

on tap-pours a thin creamy light tan head and copper/brown color. Aroma is bold cinnamon, wood, spices, medium malt, dark fruit. Taste is like a Flemish sour. (OK RB lists as Sour ale) Occasional.

Poured a hazy caramel color with a medium sized, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of all spice, cinnamon, brett, wood, light toast, caramel, and sweaty horseblanket as well. Taste of sweeter caramel up front, with vanilla, light pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a light, brett dryness in the finish. Thanks hopdog!

22oz bomber. Pours a clearish red/orange color. Tiny off-white head, that was gone instantly. I really smell the oak and wine from the barrels, very nice. Kind of a sour cherry smell with some spices. There’s alot going on in the taste of this brew, the least of which is pumpkin. First up is the red wine and oak, then the spices hit. The nutmeg is very prevalent. This beer is tart... Thin mouthfeel, carbonation is very crisp even with the lack of much head. Even when I popped the cap there was only a faint pop but the carbonation is definitely there. If you want to try a beer aged in red wine barrels this is a good one. Much easier on the wallet as well, $6.99 rather than $12 or $15.
