Commercial Description:
Our annual holiday ale from Alpine Beer Company. A Bavarian Dunkelweizen was brewed as the base beer because of the flavor compliments it has with pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg. We’ve used premium German malts and hops in keeping with style authenticity. Share this hauntingly delicious brew with a friend because two heads are better than one.

big apologies for bringing this one guys. Pours almost black with a big dirty white head. Aroma is tobacco and butter. Flavor is spicy, lots of metal, butter, and flesh. Finishes with a lightly acidic. Gross.

22oz bottle. thanks to hophead22 for the bottle. pours black with tan head. nose is sourish, pumpkin, clove. flavors is again sour, moldy, pumpkin, clove, banana. watery body and fizzy carbonation. the sour notes kills this beer for me.

Finally I cracked this open. Dark brown pour wtih a nice tan head. Aroma has some buttery notes, roasted pumkin, tartness and slight hints of spice. The nutmeg was much more noticeable both in the nose and on the tongue. Flavor has some chocolate, roasted pumpkin, and lactic tartness. This is good, but doesn’t do a lot to wow you.

This one came in from Snojerk. Pour is pretty dark brown with a small but present tan head. This is one of those spiced pumpkin kinda of beers instead of the pumpkin pumpkin kind. A little on the cinnamon and clove side of things. Aroma was slightly nutty and everything was backed up with a bit of a caramel sweetness. Not incredibly memorable for any one particular thing but a drinkable spiced beer if that’s your thing. Right now this one is not really mine.

Bottle shared by pepsican. I enjoyed the 2007 version of this beer and looked forward to try the 2008 vintage. Poured a nice murky brown color, nearly opaque. The head was tan. Diacetyl dominated nose. Lots of buttery caramel. Light to medium bodied with carbonation on the higher end of the spectrum. There were some odd spicy flavors without much pumpkin. Some dry roasty nutmeg maybe. Not really a standout in any way.

Pours dark opaque brown with a small fizzy head which dissipates quickly. No lacing. Malt, nutmeg and other spices. Light pumpkin spice aromas. The flavors that come through when you smell it are the same ones there when you taste it. Has a bit of smokiness to it. Feels a bit fizzy, but smooth in the mouth. Easily drinkable. I could probably easily go through a couple of bombers in a night.

Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. aroma of ash, burnt coffee, and burned nuts. Hmm. Tastes kinda similar with ash and coffee and it’s just kinda tart and astringent. Finishes with coffee, roast and it’s mildly bitter. Where’s the pumpkin??? Unpleasantly ashy and astringent.

Sampled on 3/19/2009. This dunkel weizen pours an eclipse brown color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, chocolate, pumpkin, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied dunkel. The malts are fruity and sweet, with hints of semi-sweet chocolate. The hops are earthy. Nice malt flavors with just enough hoppiness. Nice spicing, the pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon become more evident as it warms. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
